Outfitter Review: Bucks & Beards Outfitters - KS

Outfitter / Owner: Dave/Doug Walden

Hunter: ERIC ROYER

Animals Hunted: WHITETAIL DEER

THE WALDENS PROVIDE A INEXPENSIVE HUNT THAT PRODUCES SOME GREAT WHITETAILS. THIS WAS MY SECOND VISIT HERE AND THE HUNTING IS ONLY SURPASSED BY THIER HOSPITALITY. MY FIRST VISIT WAS DURING THE 2002 RIFLE SEASON WHEN I SCORED ON A NICE 9PT AND I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE EARLY MUZZLE LOADER SEASON AND AGIAN WAS LUCKY WITH A GREAT 10PT. THEY HAVE MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM FOR YOUR HUNT, FULLY, SEMI, OR SELF GUIDED HUNTS. THERE CABIN IS NEW WITH TWO BEDROOMS, KITCHEN, AND FULL BATH. IT WAS A SHORT DRIVE TO THE HUNTING AREA. THEY HAVE BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LAND TO HUNT. I ELECTED TO HUNT THE PUBLIC AREA AND DON'T LET THE WORD PUBLIC DISCOURAGE YOU, AS THERE IS MANY THOUSAND OF ACRES THAT ARE WALK IN ONLY. THERE ARE MANY P&Y AND B&C BUCKS ROAMING THESE AREAS. I LOOK FORWARD TO GOING BACK WITH MY ARCHERY EQUPMENT IN 2005. YOU CAN REACH DOUG BY PHONE AT 620-429-2620.

Outfitter Review: Verdigris Valley Outfitters - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Doug Arnold

Hunter: L. B. Leitch

Animals Hunted: Deer, Turkey

The team at Verdigris Valley Outfitters were knowledgable, proffessional and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and did a wonderful job hunting us in areas where sightings were plentiful and our percentage of shot ops were very good. I couldn't have asked for a better time nor a better hunt. Coming from Texas, their was some razing about our small bodied deer and of course I defended our Texas Whitetail, but I must say....I had to eat my words when I saw the body sizes on the Kansas Whitetail! Bowhunters and/or rifle...check out Verdigris Valley Outfitters, ASAP.

Outfitter Review: H & H Outfitters - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Kim Hines

Hunter: Clinton Bottoms

Animals Hunted: Turkey

This is the first hunt I was allowed to take my Customers on, to say the least I was a little bit worried not knowing what to expect. I couldn't have planned or drew up a hunt any better. Kim is an exceptional outfitter and person, we saw and heard birds every day. Almost every hunter in camp killed their limit of birds. I would highly recommed this hunt for the experienced or novice hunters.

Outfitter Review: H&H Outfitters - KS

Outfitter / Owner: Kim Hines

Hunter: ELDON W. MALONE

Animals Hunted: WHITETAIL DEER

BOWHUNTING WITH H&H OUTFITTERS, WAS EVERYTHING I HAD HOPED IT WOULD BE, AN OPPORTUNITY TO HUNT TROPHY WHITETAILS IN A PLACE, WHERE IT WAS LEFT UP TO MY HUNTING EXPERIENCE AND THE "NORMAL" BEHAVIOR OF THE WHITETAIL DEER. "WHAT ELSE COULD A REAL SPORTSMAN WANT". I PERSONALY THINK KIM HINES IS DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB OF ALLOWING A SERIOUS BOWHUNTER TO EXPERIENCE A HUNT OF A LIFETIME. GIVE ME A CALL

Outfitter Review: H & H Outfitters - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Kim Hines

Hunter: Mike Malone

Animals Hunted: Eastern Wild Turkey

We hunted with Kim the Spring of 2003 one of the main reasons we booked with him is because we could hunt Missouri in the morning and Kansas in the afternoon. This was a first hunt for us and we didn't know what to expect, except what Kim said and boy when he tells you about the hunt and the quality of game take him to heart because he sure did speak the truth. Kim is a guy that I will trust and respect everything he tells me about where to hunt and where we should look to setup he knows is properties and the game on it.Their were 5 of us on this hunt and we killed 9 gobbles in 2 days, it truly was a remarkable hunt, we have booked with him again this year (2004) and probable every year I'am able. Kim also ha some exceptional Whitetail hunting 2 of my brothers went Bowhunting with him last fall even, I would tell you their stories but I would spoil it for them, you can read their reveiws. I would highly and again very highly recommend Kim Hines H&H Outfitters, if you are looking for a Turkey Hunt with lots of Birds and action. Kim will do everything in his power to see your hunt is remarkable the rest is up to you and mother nature.

Outfitter Review: Caney Creek Outfitters - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Jerry Meechum

Hunter: rob engster

Animals Hunted: Whitetail Deer

jerry put on the best whitetail bowhunt i have ever been on. i was disappointed in myself for taking a hasty shot on a 125 class 8 pt with 13 inch g-2's, but that was my problem. i shot at a 150 class 10 pt., and an unbelievable 22-24 inch 150 or better 8 pt. but the real reason for my lost out feeling was the 170 class 10 i saw the first day i hunted the spot this all took place. the big boys move great during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of november. you may not always get the shot, but you will see BIG deer. there are 15,000 acres to hunt, but don't ask me cause i am going back next year.

Outfitter Review: Buck Brush Adventures - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Kenneth/Connie McNickle

Hunter: Ken Nelson

Animals Hunted: Whitetail, Elk, Fallow, other

For anyone interested in a most memorable hunt, I highly recommend Buck Brush Adventures. The McNickle's were the most eager-to-please hosts that my hunting group has encountered to date. I suggest to anyone who is looking for the most hunt for the money, at least do yourself a favor and check out BBA. When you go expect to see many sightings of whitetail, elk, and fallow deer. Since we went hunting, the BBA now has a website (www.buckbrushadventures.com). You know an outfitter is good, when you want to return. We have planned for another hunt this fall.

Outfitter Review: Bullseye Outfitter - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Russ Walker/George Winslow

Hunter: Mike O'Brien

Animals Hunted: Whitetail

Myself and 2 friends booked this hunt from Russ and George. The area of Kansas is near Howard in Elk county. This hunt was a non-guided 10 day archery hunt on land that had not been hunted before us. The first day as I was locking my stand in at 20 ft. , I looked up to see a 145 class buck 40yds away. One hour later 3 does 2 small buck came in at 30 yds. Then the big boy showed ! 170 class and just a absolute pig ! Course as hunting goes....I missed ! Seen plenty of deer many quality buck many in the 125 to 140 range, but held out for another shot at the 170. Went home empty but the hunt was the best ever ! Would highly recomend Russ and George to book any hunt with. They have hunted any hunt they book so they know what to expect.

Outfitter Review: Kansas Trophy Whitetails - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Stanley Brustowicz

Hunter: Aaron Mittlestadt

Animals Hunted: turkey

This area is loaded with turkeys. Both rio's and easterns. I hunted with five of my buddies and was the only one that did not harvest a turkey! This place was loaded with birds. We went way to late as the number of previous hunters made the birds extremely call shy. However to take five birds in the fourth week of the season in three days where the birds were in this condition is nothing short of impressive. All meals are eaten at a restaurant down the road. Stan and Rich also offer whitetail hunts that I know nothing about other than they kill some big whitetails and a pile of them every year.

Outfitter Review: Rattlesnake Creek Outfitters - KS

Outfitter / Owner: Fred Neier

Hunter: Robert O'Berry

Animals Hunted: Whitetail Deer w/rifle

Hunted in 2000 and 2001 with Fred Neier. Took a 160" 10 point, 22" inside wide in 2000 and had a shot at a 150" 10 point 20" wide in 2001 but did not take shot. Hunting is stand hunting in pre-scouted hay square ground blinds or raised fixed box blinds with shots of 200 - 300 yards usually. Of 14 hunters in 2001 my week, 12 took bucks, 1 passed and 1 quit. Largest 2001 buck taken my week was 175" 12 point. 130" - 140" bucks are common and hard for 1st timers to resist. Fred has picture of 190" - 200" deer in his areas. Food is good and people friendly. Lodging is bunk beds in main house (good) or two mobile homes for larger groups (ok). You put in the stand time and you have a high probability of getting a shot at a 140"+ deer. Only a 2 week rifle season so only time the blinds/boxes are used. Avg.deer weight 240#. Avg. wind 22 mph so know your windage.

Outfitter Review: Kansas Trophy Hunting Adventures - KS

Outfitter / Owner: Greg Sikat

Hunter: Kevin J. Raymond

Animals Hunted: whitetail deer

I feel that we were not accomodated on or hunt.Greg Sikat was suppose to pick us up at the airport and didn't. We had to rent a car didn't expect this extra expense . Then he came to get us in Wichita was a half day late . Didn't get to hunt until next day . We were promised 5 and a half day hunt. The meals were not that good ,at lunch time you had to make your own meals or you didn't eat. Camp accomodations were not right because greg over booked . We were told before we left for the hunt, that only 4 people would be in the camp. When we arrived there 9 people. When we went hunting the next day,we learned Greg only had two leases to hunt. One was only 650 acres and the other was only 250 arces, not much room to hunt. Greg told us he would pick us up at airport and didn't also in brochure it said he would reimburst the 205.00. That we sent to him for deer permit, never saw this money again. Greg made alot promises he couldn't keep. Myself and father would never reccommend Greg Sikats Kansas Trophy Hunting Adventures. To anyone how is seeking a quality Kansas Whitetail Hunt. I am sorry this is so late . This hunt took place 2nd week December 2000. Thank you Kevin J Raymond.

Outfitter Review: United States Outfitters - KS

Outfitter / Owner: George Taulman

Hunter: Fred Zech

Animals Hunted: Whitetail

This was the first tag that I've drawn through USO and I was not impressed with the hunt, considering the hype and cost. They had me hunting in an area where they apparently didn't have permission to hunt. On the second morning I was approached by two people in the field while I was on stand and told that I was trespassing and that no hunting was allowed. Needless to say I was bewildered and my hunt for the rest of that day was wasted. I did end up taking a six point buck(eastern count)from a different hunting area but felt pressured and stressed. I never did meet the head guide/outfitter, Joe Ballau, who was with other hunters in unit 14 or 16. This was not what I expected from USO or those so called monster Kansas bucks. Think twice before you book this hunt!! Any other questions, please feel free to email me.

HUNTED WHITETAILS WITH USO IN UNIT 16, KANSAS, WITH RIFLE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER. SAW LOTS OF GOOD BUCKS IN 120-160 CLASS. THE LARGEST TAKEN IN CAMP SCORED 190. THE GUIDES WORK HARD TO FIND YOU A TROPHY AND ARE VERY EASY TO GET ALONG WITH. OUR CAMP WENT 100% SUCCESS. MY BUCK WAS THE SMALLEST TAKEN IN CAMP, AN EIGHT POINT SCORING AROUND 125. MY FAULT FOR MISJUDGING HIM. HAD A GREAT TIME. THE FOOD WAS AWESOME, GEORGE TAULMAN WAS RIGHT ON TOP OF ALL THE DETAILS AND THE DEER WERE THERE IN BOTH QUALITY AND QUANTITY. A NICE TOUCH IS THE PROFESSIONAL QUALITY PHOTOS TAKEN OF YOUR TROPHY AND SENT TO YOU AFTER THE HUNT. I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT THE GOOD TIME I HAD. HOPE TO DRAW AN ELK TAG AND HUNT WITH USO AGAIN THIS FALL.

Outfitter Review: H&R Outfitters - Kansas

Outfitter / Owner: Cody Heitschmidt

Hunter: Clint Ellis

Animals Hunted: Pheasant & Quail

This was the first guided hunting trip I have planned. I was really scared that it might be poor experience because you hear so many horror stories about bad outfitters. We scheduled a late season hunt which meant the birds have had some pressure on them so they were pretty wild. We did not kill a lot of birds but it was our poor shooting and the weather that played a major factor in that. We saw plenty of pheasants and a few good coveys of quail. There was another group of hunters there who had hunted there back in November and said they got into 10 to 12 coveys of quail averaging about 20-30 birds per covey. If you want to hunt quail and pheasant and hunt only wild (real wild) birds this is the place. I would advise to book early these guys are making a name for themselves. check them out at huntingkansas.comP.S. If Dave and Chad ever read this thanks for everything, you guys worked hard for us. We had a great time.

George has put together some great areas in Kansas for trophy whitetail hunting. The trophy quality of the animals was outstanding. George and his crew work hard to make the hunt succesful and fun. A nice touch is the professional manner in which the guides photograph the trophies for the hunter.

Outfitter / Owner: Doug Arnold

Hunter: Hal Badorrek

Animals Hunted: Whitetail Deer

This was my third year hunting with Doug. He just acquired more land on which we hunted. Three other guys saw Boonies. If you want a quality hunt with the bow, this is it. You should go later in the year. The hardest part is getting in as it is nearly booked with repeats. We had eight hunters in camp with no kills, but all eight hunters were very satisfied with intention of rebooking.
