Outfitter Review: Timberline Outfitters & Guides - CO

Outfitter / Owner: Doug Frank

Hunter: Brian Jennette

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

This was a third season hunt from town and fully guided for mule deer. We supplied our own lodging and food as part of the package. Saw about 16 bucks by noon and 12 of them were shooter bucks. My father and I scored on both our bucks, a big 4X4 and a 5X5, by 2:00 PM opening day. Doug was our guide and he did an excellent job in getting us on the deer in no time. I would recommend this hunt if you want a nice muley buck to take back home.

Outfitter / Owner: Dave Flemming

Hunter: Bill

Animals Hunted: Antelope

I took my first antelope with Dave that was a little more than 14". He's a really great guy and we had a blast. I took my buck on day 2 and my buddy who had to shoot 9 times got his right before dark on the last day. Honestly he had several chances but couldn't connect. I saw a lot of bucks, saw one that was just HUGE but we didn't get on him and he left the county but I had several bucks I could have shot and took the best one. We really had a great time I recommend Dave without hesitation. Everyone in camp shot a nice buck.

Outfitter Review: Rock Creek Outfitters - Colorado

Outfitter / Owner: Robert Thompson

Hunter: Federico Montoya

Animals Hunted: Elk

Robert Thompson sets up hunters strategically along his land. The land has a sanctuary that draws game to the ranch and creates opportunity for sighting of large herds. The sleeping arrangements are in a large house (not cabin) and are quite comfortable. Dinners are served in a clean kitchen and food is plentiful and good.

Outfitter Review: Samuelsons Outfitters - Colorado

Outfitter / Owner: Richard Samuelson

Hunter: George Major Jr.

Animals Hunted: Elk

Me and 3 of my best friends did the Hay Park drop camp with Samuelson. 2 1/2 hour horse pack in. That was the hardest part of the trip. If you do not ride horses often, the ride hurts your knees. We had a great time. Richard and Cathy are salt of the earth, just great people. The camp was very well set up. The location was even better. We did the second rifle season. A lot of the elk were spooked and had gone nocturnal. The weather was hot and that did not help. Even with that our group had three chances to take three different bulls in 5 days and blew it. Two guys missed and one guy had his safety on as he went to pull the trigger. We rebooked this hunt on the day we packed out. Can not say enough about this outfitter.

Outfitter Review: Garvey Brothers - Colorado

Outfitter / Owner: Stan Garvey

Hunter: David Humbles

Animals Hunted: Elk

Stan Garvey and his staff provided me with the ultimate high country experience in Unit 61. They allowed me to pass on bulls until I found the one I was looking for. I took a massive 6x6 on the fourth day. These people are the real thing and I feel they are the best guides in unit 61. After saving preference points for eight years it was painful to make the decision on which outfitter to use. I made the right choice and it was truly an awesome hunt.

All you really need to know is that I would book Sammy again. Fun, professional, serious when required. I shot a huge 6 x 5 at 7:00am day 2. Hard hunt with altitude/breathing issues. Worked extremely hard but worth every bruise and pound lost in the adventure. Come in shape but expect to be tested. The altitude is non-forgiving.

Outfitter Review: Triple Track Hunting - CO

Outfitter / Owner: Brandan Stewart

Hunter: Mark Samson

Animals Hunted: Elk

First Elk hunt with bow; not particularly looking for trophy but had bow-range bulls on multiple occasions. Last AM had a trophy-size bull within feet, but they were not quite coming to bugles just yet. Took nice-sized cow and tagged out early. For realistic archery close opportunity at good bulls, this is the outfit. Physical conditioning highly recommended for NW Colorado, modest elevation.

This was my first archery elk hunt, and although was not going after a trophy, I was presented with multiple legitimate archery shot opportunities including 1st AM hunt at a young bull and was within feet of a trophy-class bull on the 3rd day and tagged out on a nice cow. This outfit is highly recommended for the hunter who wants a realistic chance on a 300 class bull with bow. Physical conditioning is highly recommended.

Animals Hunted: Elk

I've hunted with this outfitter several times and have never had a bad experience. Everyone in camp is very friendly and willing to help you out. This is a wilderness area, only way in is on horseback and then you hunt on foot. Elevations run 10,000 ft. and up, plenty of game around and the better shape you're in physically the better your chances are of getting an elk. I plan on hunting with this outfitter again.

The hunts are quality hunts in a limited draw, wilderness area (no vehicle access, just horesback or hike in). The scenery is excellent, high mountain. Elk are usually sighted daily with various 5-pt and 6-pt bulls seen multiple times during a typical one-week archery hunt.

Outfitter Review: Wallace Guide & Outfitters - Colorado

Outfitter / Owner: Bill/Fred Wallace

Hunter: Don Andrews

Animals Hunted: Elk/Mule Deer

Fred makes it know that he doesn't like the public hunting on a public mountain. He put his clients within 100' of public hunters and left them there. He put his clients within 2 or 3 other public hunters where there is no chance that any game can get to you. He puts his clients in an area and tells them where to look for elk, then goes out and ties up the horses and sneaks out and sits in the area the hunter in looking. If he doesn't like you, he will make you walk across the mountain following 7 horses, because the 3 additional horses will spook the elk. If your hunting for elk, you will end up hunting in an area where mule deer have been seen. And visa versa for mule deer. He would ride his horse around the public hunters for hours and then come to camp and brag about it. You pay good money, you shouldn't be treated this way.

Our group from NY did the drop camp hunt for both elk on one of Larry's ranches. Only 1 of us had ever hunted elk before. Out of the 6 of us we got 4 bulls and should have done better if we had more experiance. Everything Larry said was true and he made sure all of the hunt details were taken care of. I would higly recommend this outfitter and will definitly go back again soon.

Extraordinary elk,and deer hunting. Located in the Craig-Steamboat Springs area of northwestern Colorado, Rocky Mountain Ranches manages hunting properties that offer varying types of hunting terrain, from heavily forested elk habitat to rolling sage-dotted countryside where mule deer and antelope abound. Surrounded by beautiful Colorado scenery, you might want to spend some of your time taking pictures. The outfitter did everything he could to help me harvest a very nice 5 X 5 .

I muzzleloaded hunted 4 days in the rut and never saw an elk. The truck we were in broke down twice. One day I could not hunt because the outfitter had no transportation for me. He refused to return any money. I paid for a 5day hunt and only got a 4 day hunt. The guide had very little experience. One day his call did not work ond he had to use my binoculars.Iam aguide in New York state and know how aguided hunt should be. This was the worst hunt I have ever been on from start to finish.I wasted 5 preference points for this disaster.

Jake and his wife Sal were an excellent outfitting team for my 1999 elk bowhunt. Jake is a world class hunter, woodsman, and archer. Sal ran an outstanding camp in support of Jake and his hunters. Her cooking was excellent. Their care and concern for their hunters was excellent. Their hunting areas were outstanding as was Jake's knowledge of the areas, the game, and how to hunt. Jake and Sal Powell are two of the finest people that I have ever met. My friend and I spent 7 days with the two of them in the CO high country in Sept, 02. The quality of the hunt, food and accomodations, equipment, guiding service and their overall companionship was just outstanding! The Powell's have a one of a kind franchise area in a trophy elk unit that represents a true wilderness adventure for those willing to experience their type of hunt. My friend harvested a 310 class bull elk with a muzzle loader and I had several such opportunities. Both my friend and I would highly recommend them.I hope to live long enough to go back to their franchise area sometime,(hopefully with the Powell's). However, with the CO nonresident elk hunting program for the trophy zones, it might be awhile. Both my friend and are fortunate that we were able retain Jake and Sal as outfitters having waited 10 years for our trophy permits for unit 76. I would highly suggest that those looking for a great elk hunt with two great people check out Jake and Sal, they will not be disappointed!

I hunted the fourth season of 2002, for approximately five minutes. I shot a 6X6 that scored 321 and my buddy shot a 6X6 that scored 217. We seen about 500 head of elk the day before and the first day of the season. I rode with Kip the last two days of the third season, during this time I helped pack drop camps out of Flat Tops Wilderness area. Out of the three camps there were eleven hunters and a total of eight bulls shot, two of the men missed. The horses were very well manored and the owner knows how to handle animals well. If anyone wants a quality hunt, this would be an excellent choice of camps.

GREAT HUNT, I SAW WHAT I WAS PROMISSED TO SEE. BUT THIS IS NO SLAM DUNK HUNT. AS A BOW HUNTER IT WAS SOME WHAT DIFFICAULT STALKING ON BUCKS WHEN THER WERE AS MANY AS 10-15 DEER TOGETHER AT A TIME, AND IN GRASS 8-15 INCHES TALL. DOES WERE THE ONES THAT FOILED MOST OF THE STALKS. SAY SEVERAL BUCKS (MULE DEER) IN THE 180-190 CLASS, WITH MOST IN THE 150-160 CLASS. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS HUNTER LOOKING TO BAG A WHOPPER OF A WHITETAIL AND OR MULE DEER THIS HUNT IS FOR YOU. THE TERAIN IS FLAT OPEN "AND I MEAN IT FLAT OPEN." CHOOSE CAMO ACCORDINGLY LIKE MOSSY OAK SHADOW GRASS ITS BY FAR THE BEST FOR THIS TYPE OF HUNTING. ALSO PRACTICE FOR LONG SHOTS (BOWHUNTERS) 50-70 YARD SHOTS ARE NOT UNCOMON.

Outfitter / Owner: Sammy Frazier

Hunter: Tom Finger

Animals Hunted: Elk

If you want the opportunity to see plenty of elk and the chance to shoot a real nice one, then get in contact with Sammy Frazier. But you better be in excellent shape. Be willing to hike a long distance to find the elk. Be willing to sleep in a wall tent on a mat when its 10 degrees. Be willing to get up at 3:30am and climb some rough terrian after a horseback ride. Be ready to crawl on your hands and knees for a good distance to get yourself in position for a shot.Thats what we did for three straight days until Sammy got me within range of a nice 6x6. During those three days we saw plenty of different elk. Several 5x5's and a couple 6x6's. It was physically draining and extremely thrilling at the same time. The food was excellent. Sammy and his other guide (Jake) worked extremely hard for us. The horses were gentle (great for a non-rider like myself). Sammy gives you a real confidence boost, everyday I went out I thought there was a real good chance that I would get an elk.Our group of three filled out by the third day. There were other unguided hunters in the area who had not seen elk yet. Once you get your elk he takes care of everything. (You help quarter it)If you want a free range hunt to remember and you can shoot and your willing to work at it, then Sammy would be a good choice.

I also hunted 4th season at the Montrose ranch. I am, I'm embarrassed to say, one of the guys who whiffed his shot and did not take home an elk. Despite going home empty handed, I had a great hunt and second what the Geibs wrote. I am relatively new to hunting, and Doyle and his team were terrific. The accomodations were more than satisfactory, and the food was quite good. If you're determined to get a bull in the 375+ class, this is probably not the hunt for you (although the Cripple Creek ranch may harbor some bulls in that size range)-Doyle will be very up front about this. However, if you want to see plenty of animals and are happy with a bull in the 250 to 320 range, it would be hard to imagine a better situation. Although deer season was closed, the deer were plentiful and several of the bucks were huge. I have already given Doyle a deposit for another hunt...

This was my first elk hunt. Sammy Frazier was recommended to me by a good friend who had hunted with him before. I can't say enough good things about the knowledge, expertise and flat out "work ethic" Sammy has. I had worked out plenty at the gym before I came out to hunt and I was in shape. However, the terrain was rugged and steep and the elevation was tough on us. This was one of the most physically demanding things I've ever done. I was almost ready to give up on myself and my "beat up" body but Sammy was bound and determined to get me tagged out. He stayed positive and got me in front of an elk. (I was starting to "kick myself" as I had passed on a small 4 x 4 the first day) It took me until the third day of our 5 day hunt before I got my bull...a beautiful 5 x 5...for me a bull of a lifetime. If I could do it again...I'd go with Sammy!Dave FingerMadison, WI

My son and I hunted the 4th season in Unit 64 with J&D Outfitters. There were 4 hunters in camp at their Montrose location. We all had shooting opportunities at bull elk. There was a 50% success rate with my son's 6x6 and my 6x5.The entire organization goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. The guides, Doyle and Bryant, know the land like the back of their hands and are constantly working to get bull elk in front of you. The food was hearty, homecooked and plentiful. Accommodations were a real nice central lodge and detached 2 person cabins with their own hot water and shower. Transfers to and from the airport right on schedule. There were no surprises, you got what you contracted for and then some. In addition to elk, the land has significant mule deer. None of us had drawn a tag, but we saw several bucks approaching 28-30 inch spreads.I have been on 14 other guided hunts and this experience ranks right up there in the top category. I plan to go again in 2004 hopefully for a combination elk and mule deer hunt.

My father and I just returned from J&D Outfitters and had an amazing time. Together we've been on about 8 guided hunts over the years and this was the best so far. Doyle and Bryant are two of the best guides in the business and the huge elk and deer populations only added to the enjoyment. The week we were in camp my father and I each took nice bulls, mine a big 6 x 6 and his a very nice 6 x 5. The 2 other hunters in camp had several oppurtunities to tag bulls but missed their shots.Overall, everyone one in camp was proffesional and extremetly personable. Be prepared to have a great time each night after the days hunts are done. One word of warning, when you do go, don't be surprised to see over a hundred mule deer each day. We're putting in for Mule Deer preference points this year and will be back to hunt in '04.I can only say great things about the entire operation.

This was supposed to be a hunt for trophy mule deer. The fun started when the guide got lost driving to camp. The first day of the hunt, he didn't know the ranch boundaries.....things didn't get much better. The outfitter said I should "hold out for a 190" class deer"....what a joke. Even the guides said there were few if any on the ranch. I could've put up with the sub par camp conditions if the game had been there. No deer were even sighted until the third day. The two elk hunters that were in camp left after 1 day.

I tried to leave after the 3rd day, he would not refund any money. He told me a bunch of BS to get my money, the hunt was nothing like what it was supposed to be. In fact, the hunt ended up in a whole different unit. The guides felt it was o.k to tresspass on other ranches. After the 5th day i rented a car and saw more and better elk on public land, even though i was still paying for the rip off hunt.

Doyle is straight and honest when it comes to the hunt and quality of the animals you will be hunting. This was an archery hunt with my 12yr old son along for the experience. I had expressed to Doyle that I would like to try and harvest a 15"+ antelope, his response was "there are several that size and better". That was an understatement, as we saw antelope up to 17"+. We hunted both waterholes and by decoy, though the weather for the week was not always in our favor. Doyle used his knowledge of the animals, giving 100% in trying to offer the best opportunity for a shot. On the last day we spotted a buck and were able to get into position to pop up the decoy, I got the shot and harvested my animal. He was not one of the big boys, but a trophy just the same. Doyle did a great job to make the hunt enjoyable for both my son and I, so much that I plan on returning for another bow hunt.

Doyle delivered as promised. When I first spoke with Doyle he told me there was a number of 15"+ antelope on the ranch,(he spoke the truth)as we saw animals up to a possible 18". We hunted by both decoy and waterholes. The weather did not always cooperate, but Doyle never quit and on the last day he was able to decoy a buck within bow range. It wasn't one of the big boys but a trophy still the same. My 12yr old son was along for the hunt and Doyle helped him enjoy the experience so much he wants to go back. Doyle gives 100%, more important he is very knowledgeable of the game and works with you to get the best opportunity for a shot. By far the best guided hunt I've been on. Great guide/person-you can't go wrong on a hunt with Doyle. Hope to be going back for elk in 2003.

Animals Hunted: Elk & Mule Deer

Weather was our biggest problem. This late in October you would expect temps to stay in the 60's or lower. Instead, we had highs in the 80's most days. The deer were moving only at first and last light. Elk were usually bedded down before legal shooting light. Thus making it difficult to find them. The guides never gave up. The only sign of frustration was the guide that was forced to be with one of our party that had bought a new magnum rifle just before the hunt and was scared to death of the recoil. After 6 days of this idiot shooting and missing at some 7 different mule deer bucks, ranging from 24" - one that was over 30". the Guide had had enough and swapped out with another guide. The guide's climbed trees to look for game, hiked up and down the hills and busted brush. They even put on drives when we realized we weren't going to find game by sitting and glassing. When I spotted a herd of elk bedding down one morning some two miles from me, I told the guides that had come back to camp for a quickie lunch. All of them wanted to join in on the afternoon's hunt for the elk. We ended up making a 3 mile, round-a-bout hike to get on the elk only to have the elk get up and head off before we could get set. Two bulls were seen but the closest we could get to them was 500 yards and they stayed in the brush so we really couldn't tell just how good they were. DJ Winters was constantly there, checking up on us and making sure we had everything we needed. The camp cook served excellent meals. She even opened her house to us so that we could drive down and take showers, something that the heat had made a requirement as we were getting so we couldn't stand the smell of one another!:)All in all, this was a trip I'd repeat. I look forward to going out with DJ again in 2003.

I saw a total of 3 antelope bucks and shot one that the guide told me it was a typical 13" buck, and it turned out to be a non-typical 10". The guide left a full bladder and rectum in the animal after field dressing it. When I went to butcher it, the meat was contaminated with urine, and fecal matter. The sleeping quarters was like having to sleep in a small fish house with 6 guys. Too cozy for me! When I booked the hunt I was told by a very reputable consulting firm that the average hunter sees up to 50 bucks a day! Not based on my experience. Large amounts of antelope in NW Colorado do not exist there!

Animals Hunted: Elk

I hunted with Frazier Outfitting the first rifle limited rifle season 2001. This hunt took place in Unit 76. This unit is a limited draw area. In 2001 it took 6 preference points to draw a tag. Base camp was adequate. All equipment was in excellent shape and his horses are well seasoned and easy to handle. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in the saddle as horses are used to get you around. We used spike camps to get close to the elk to reduce saddle time. Elk were plentiful. The quality of the bulls was marginal. Our group of 8 took 8 bulls. He also had a drop camp of 5 and they took 5 bulls. Out of 13 bulls all were average in size. No one saw a bull that would pass the 300 mark. That doesn’t mean that they are not there. This area is huge and very rugged. If you want a serious hunt then this one is for you. If you want to play cards and tip a few beers then you should probably look elsewhere.

I had hunted with this outfitter before. The outfitter advertises 1 guide to every 2 or 3 hunters. In two years there I have only witnessed 1 guide per every 6 hunters. The so called guides are not experienced elk hunters the just keep you from getting lost, hence called guides. The first dissappointment was on day one when I found out that the Wallaces had been chasing elk with muzzleloaders for a week immediately prior to our bowhunt. After 4 days we hadn't filled any tags. The guide apparently took it personally and started treating everyone like crap. I didn't pay to be treated that way and if your expecting hospitality keep looking. If the hunting is bad you will not find it here. On the 5th day one hunter made the guide mad by yelling out to him after being left behind on the mountain one evening. The guide punished him by yelling at him and making him walk back to camp in the dark. On the 6th day I had enough and asked to leave. It was two days early that's how disgusted I was. When I arrived at the main lodge, the owner addressed my dissatisfaction with the hunt by putting his fist in my face and threatening me, shaking his finger in my face and then shoving it into my mouth, and then finally by threatening to sue me for slander if I wrote any letters telling what happened. Just thought you should know about Wallace Guides and Outfitters of Colbran Co. Make your own decision, maybe your more tollerant than I am. Good luck

I have been a guide and this being my first guided hunt as a hunter I was extremely disapointed with the hunt. The guides did not know the area, the guides wanted me to smoke marijuana with them and they had us drinking water from the Pine river in which I contracted a bad case of Giardia which put me out of commisssion for the last day of the hunt, and made me very ill for weeks to come.No legal game was sighted until the last day of the hunt and which no shot was fired. The camp cook was filthy and the food left a lot to be desired. I should have stayed home and just flushed the $3500.00 down the toilet. Be careful in your outfitter selection folks!

I began working for Conrad in the fall of 2000 and I'll let you into a little insight about his operation. Basically its a hoax. I worked for him as basically his slave while being yelled at the entire time. After getting tired of his s@#$ I told him to shove it. We were supposed to be trained and all that consisted of was watching videos during dinner. We tore down trees and marked trails in his "most successful areas" which we saw little to no sign in and cleaned camp. In addition to this some of his stands were set up in spots that shots of 500-600 yds had to be made. All of the guides were new and we soon figured out why. Nobody would come back to work for him, not even his own son. The one good thing about this was his wife was a wonderful cook and kept everyone well fed. Why she puts up with him I dont know. After talking to a few of the guides that stuck around, its sounds like he was just as rude to the customers as he was to us. Just thought i would give you a heads up. For obvious reasons im not putting my real name but i can be contacted by email if you have had any similar experiences with him.

I hunted antelope and elk. I looked at dozens of bucks before choosing one. The first day elk hunting I saw probably 1500 elk. They did a drive on elk that pushed SEVERAL HUNDRED elk out of the draws. Two elk were taken and I missed. I later got a 4 x 5 elk. They were 100% successful on elk this year and I believe also on antelope and deer. Hunting is mostly from pickups- suitable for the less fit. This is on a Ranching for Wildlife ranch so tag is guaranteed and there is greater flexibility in hunt dates. Prices are reasonable for this kind of hunt. You would be an idiot not to book this hunt.

Animals Hunted: Trophy Mule Deer

I booked this as a Trophy Mule Deer Hunt in the Colorado Plains area. We were told we would see deer in the 170 and above class with antler widths in the 27 inch and above range. I had seen articles and testimonials about Pikes Peak Outfitters by prominent sports writers and I had a chance to talk to Jim Zumbo, who had hunted with Pikes Peak the previous year. Everything sounded great except for the steep $4500 price tag. For a hunt of a lifetime, 2 of my buddies and I decided to go for it. Owner, Gary Jordan, and 2 other guides met us at the airport and we were transported to our hotel. I rode with Jordan and asked him how the previous week of hunting had gone. He showed me photos of 2 average mule deer that were taken. They were far from the trophy deer I expected to see. When I asked him about trophy size animals he showed me some photos. They were photos of the same deer that I saw when I booked the hunt 2 years earlier. I later found out that there had not been any trophy size deer taken in our area in the past 2 years, and the ranch we were to hunt on had only a minimal size herd.In the 5-day hunt, I did not see an antlered deer. I saw a few does most days, but nothing more. Out of 6 hunters, a small 3-point buck was the only deer taken. No one saw a trophy buck. One hunter went home in disgust after 3 days. The owners of the adjacent ranch told us the deer population was dismal in the area we were hunting. It was a complete washout. Outfitters such as Pikes Peak are very good at advertising. They give sports writers and other celebrities hunts in exchange for favorable articles. The hunts these guys go on are "special" and "set-up" so that they will see and bag quality game. Don't be fooled as I was. The average guy who plops down his money doesn't get to go on the same hunt as these guys. Check out the January 2001 issue of the NRA's American Hunter Magazine. Editor John Zent was treated to a white tail deer hunt by Pikes Peak Outfitters. As a result, a 4-page article complete with great photos appears in the magazine. There is an abbreviated on-line version too, check it out at http://www.americanhunter.org/features/jan/pikes_peak3.htm. It's enough to make me want to sign up for another hunt with Gary Jordan. But I wont. I've been burned by his organization once and that was a hard to swallow $4500 lesson that I don't need to repeat.

Outfitter Review: Bruton's Guide Service - Colorado

Went on the third rifle hunt during the second week of Nov. Area received snow and cold temps. Went out there with 8 other hunters for 5 days on a 2X1 hunt. Opening morning two of us went with a guide and his 9 year old son. I was placed in a stand and left with the 9 year old while the guide took the other hunter to another location. I ended up baby sitting for a kid who sword fought with the bushes, threw chunks of snow down the hill side and I ended the morning hunt when he started to sing a bunch of songs while sitting on a rock behind me. Figuring this was a fluke I didn't say anything untill I got stuck with the kid again that night. After talking to the outfitter (kids grandfather)in a nice way, I didn't have anymore problems but seemed to have gotten on his sh!! list for the next few days. Things did work out better near the end of the week as we got to know each other a little better.Saw lots of cow elk every day, the guides were friendly and knew the territory very well. The two bulls that our group took were nice and we worked hard for them. Everyone we spoke with in town and around the ranch said we should have easly taken 6 or 7 bulls and the lack of elk was very rare for this outfitter. If you just want to shoot an average bull out of a hayfield, stay in a bunkhouse, and eat pretty well, this would be a good hunt for you.

OUR GUIDE NEVER GUIDED BEFORE, DIDN'T KNOW AREA, AND BLUNDERED THROUGH 5 DAYS. THIS HUNT ADDED NEW MEANING TO FAIR CHASE. GUIDE NEVER HAD A PLAN OR IDEA ON HOW TO FIND US ELK. ELK WERE IN AREA, BUT HIS INEXPERIENCE LEFT US EMPTY. ONE DAY WE HAD TO WAKE UP THE CAMP AND START BREAKFAST. GUIDE KEPT ASKING US WHAT WE WANTED TO DO?? WE TOLD HIM TO SEE ELK AND GET WITHIN BOW RANGE. HE GOT HURT WHEN WE TOLD HIM THAT IS WHAT HE'S BEING PAID FOR.

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

We booked a trophy mule deer hunt and saw P & Y class animals everyday. It was a tree stand hunt with 8 hunters in camp. Two 150-160 P&Y mulies were taken with everyone passing smaller bucks to get a crack at the big ones we were seeing daily. Other than the long hours in tree stands needed to wait them out, I can't find a single thing that I would have done differently. I look forward to going back.

Hunter: Mike Mshar

Animals Hunted: Elk

Conrad runs a first rate camp, If you go prepared to hunt hard you will have a great opportunity at a trophy animal. I harvested a 5x5 bull, 7+ yrs old on the second day. Overall I saw 7 legal bulls in 2 days. The camp was great and the cooking was awesome. The guides worked there tails off to make you successful. I will be going back next year to get one of the trophy Mule deer I saw!!!!

Animals Hunted: Elk

We hunted the 4th Rifle Season in Unit 12 under miserable cold, wintery conditions. Our guides worked hard all 5 days to put us on animals. We located 15-30 animals daily, though few legal bulls were sighted. Every evening we returned to warm, dry tents with well cooked meals to follow. By the end of the hunt we had all tagged out returning home with meat, horns and chilly memeries.

Animals Hunted: Trophy Mule Deer

Lets put it this way there were six hunters in camp one 3x3 was shot the first day. One hunter left the morning of the third day. Two small bucks were seen in five days of hunting. Three hunters saw 5-10 does the whole trip. The guide is a very experienced guide but he even couldn't find a Buck. I wouldn't go back with these guys on this ranch Ever! It was very misrepresented hunt. This was just a poor deer hunt at best. The acomadations were great but thats it. Don't be fooled by all the Hype these guys put out. The word "Trophy Hunt" means you should be able to see at least one good deer to shoot. I would advise to pass on this hunt.
