owhunting only on 1200 acres of Private Land located in West Central Illinois in Hancock County on the Mississippi River bluffs. We are in the county north of the "golden triangle". We don't receive the publicity they do, but that is not bad.
We have a diverse habitat of hardwoods, white and red oak acorns, farm fields of corn, soybeans and wheat, and food plots containing turnips, rape, alfalfa, clover, oats and sugar beets. Hunting pressure is light and the quality of our deer is high. The land has been under quality deer management for the past 10 years. There is an excellent opportunity to harvest a Pope & Young whitetail. I am an avid bowhunter myself and know what it takes to harvest quality bucks.
You may bring a climber stand if you prefer to hunt out of one. My stands - mostly ladder stands and lock-on stands - range from fifteen to twenty-five feet high, depending on type of cover and terrain. Ground blinds are available and successful for those not able to hunt from an elevated stand. Use of safety belts from elevated stands is mandatory.
No stalking or still-hunting is allowed. Bucks must have a minimum 130 P&Y gross score. There is a $300.00 fine for bucks scoring less than 130 P&Y gross. I also encourage every hunter to take a whitetail doe if they wish. I will do everything I can to make your hunt successful.
Our Lodge is non-smoking, and provides you with a stove, microwave and refrigerator. No meals are provided.
I have Kawasaki Mules for transportation to stands if needed and to retrieve your deer. A walk-in cooler is available to hang your deer.
