| The 17hmr is an awesome cartridge and if you are a skilled shooter you can consistently take game such as nutria, squirrels, coons ,and rabbits at distances out to two hunred yards.I know some one who killed a hog at 120 yards with it last year. The guns accuracy allowed for an "eye shot".
Now with hornady's new X bullets the 17 is even more of a hunting bullet for smaller game.Just stay away from windy days as the bullets drifts alot past a hundred yards. This is rather expensive for a rimfire but it is a good gun that can handle weather and it is extremly accurate.P.S.Marlin makes a cheapergun the model 17 V for $200 however it isnn't as high quality as the ruger. |
