I bought this rifle to replace my .22 squirrel rifle, and use it on short varmint distances on coyote and Groundhog. I have a Weaver Grand Slam 6x20 scope mounted on it. I am very impressed with the .17 HMR accuracy. I shot a box of shells through it at the range and the groups at 50 yds were all the size of a pencil eraser. At 100 yds they increased to about .75 inches across on a 5 shot group. Try that with a .22!!! I have taken it squirrel hunting 3 times and I have taken squirrels out to 80 yards. The longest shots that I have ever taken squirrels at, and they were head shots. This rifle is the next closest thing to a laser gun that you can get. You have to make sure you have a head shot. The bullet really does a lot of damage to a squirrel if you have a body shot. I also shot a coyote the second day out at about 100 yards. I hit him in the head, and he dropped like bug sprayed with Raid!! I also have my scope mounted using an integral .22 dovetail mount made by BKL. It is Model #253 and it is the best .22 mount I have ever used in my 30 years of small game hunting. Absolutely rock solid Mount for $30 bucks.
