Review:

At the beginning of each Turkey call review I do, I'm going to make the following disclaimer: I understand that how much one likes a particular Turkey call may be a very subjective thing - what I aim to do in this review is to tell how I liked or disliked the call.

The Owl Hooter from Quaker Boy is a very good locating call for turkeys. I have elicited shock gobbles from countless turkeys by hooting a few notes on this can call. Anyone who has heard an owl can easily make a good imitation using this call. It is easy to blow and easy to control the sounds. It has two-pitches as well, with a little hole in the bottom of the call to control that.

There are two things I think that would make this call a better one. For starters, I wish it had more volume. It is really good for turkeys that aren't too far away, but if it was louder it could really reach out there and be a long-distance locator. Also, it could stand to be made a little more sturdy. It's hard plastic, but it can break. I once had the mouthpiece break off after I accidentally sat on it in my vest. I used some super-glue to put it back in place and it works as good as ever, but it seems there is something they could do to strengthen the call a bit.

This call always goes to the turkey woods with me, and will go this Spring as well.

Pros:

Great owl sounds, easy to blow, easy to use

Cons:

Needs more volume, more sturdy construction
