  • Comments: I reload for a custom Mauser in 338/06. What a great cartridge. The Nosler 200 gr. Ballistic Tip bullet has performed flawlessly for me. I shot a 250 + lb. wild boar in NH at approx. 60 yds. At the shot the boar flipped end of end and that was it. The shot hit just behind the left front shoulder and exited in front of the right shoulder. I estimate the striking velocity a 2700 fps. The result in the chest cavity was that the contents were a homogenized mess. There was nothing recognizeable. I feel that the .338 cal. slug is of a more substantial construction to handle the higher velocity of the .338 Win Mag.
