  • Comments: The Barnes X bullet has performed so well on game that I switched all of my big game loads over to this bullet. The .338 cal 250 gr. bullets didn't shoot well in my 2 guns but the 200 gr. ones are some of the most accurate I have shot. The 100 & 90 gr. .243 bullets didn't shoot well in my .243 winchester but it does have a very rough bore (it does shoot 1 MOA with other bullets though) and I think this may have something to do with it. In .308 I worked up a load with the 200 gr. X bullet and shot a small bull with it--great results--and the velocity was way up there for a 30-06. My hunting buddy has a 25-06 that will shoot 100 gr. bullets into 1 1/4" at 200 yards! The copper fouling will definitely affect accuracy. Barnes CR-10 bore cleaner works great to remove this copper fouling. At about 10-15 shots a noticable drop in accuracy occurs which goes away with a cleaning.
