I already had a BAR Mk 1 w/o Boss in 7mm Rem. Mag. w/ a Decelerator recoil pad that I've used for years, so I thought I had a pretty good idea about what a new model .338 w/ Boss would be like. Wrong! The new Mark II with the Boss and a Limbsaver recoil pad is fantastic! Sub MOA four shot group (4" at 235 yards -- 2 virtually touching in the top center of the bull, one each 2" right and 1/2" high and 2" left and 1/2" high) and the felt recoil is less than with my 7mm BAR shooting 160 gr. partitions! Anybody could shoot this rifle w/o worrying about recoil. I fired 20 rounds of 225 gr. Nosler AccuBonds in one sitting off a bench w/no additional shoulder protection other than a shirt and it left not a single mark on my shoulder -- nothing. My wife's 270 Win with Decelerator shooting 130 gr. noslers kicks harder and it's not a hard kicker by any means. I accidentally neglected my ear muffs and fired one round (225 gr. Nosler Accubond) w/o ear protection. Admittedly, it's loud, but not painful. Fired a friends 300 WinMag in Rem 700 w/ some brand of muzzle brake w/o ear protection last hunting season and it was much, much worse --literally deafening -- couldn't hear at all for about 20 minutes. This BAR isn't like that at all, it's just loud, but then I wouldn't expect a .338 WinMag to be a whisper round. This BAR in .338 is definitely a keeper!
