I purchased the Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 specifically for a Black Bear hunting in Maine. I have found this gun to be very accurate, light wieght and easy handling. The short ported 18.5 inch barrel make it an easy carring gun in the woods. If hunting bear with hounds, it can't be beat. The porting and soft butt plate really help to soak up the recoil. I have put at least 1,000 rounds thru it and have never have a round fail to chamber. It seems to like any ammo. And you can't beat the knock-down power of the 45-70. Its a BIG WINNER !!!!
