OutWest Guides of Marble, Colorado specializes in providing guided elk hunts and trophy mule deer hunts with rifle, muzzleloader and bow. We offer hunts for any hunter's budget including fully guided, lodge, semi-guided and DIY drop camps. OutWest Guides is located about an hour from Aspen or 45 minutes south of Glenwood Springs. We outfit in Game Management Unit 43, in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Area and the Raggeds Wilderness area, operating under special use permit by the U.S. Forest Service. Colorado Outfitter #1995.
Our elk hunts are in a wilderness setting. We offer a quality elk hunting experience using horses. Chances of connecting with branch-antlered bulls are excellent. OutWest Guides has Forest Service permits to run camps in the rugged Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness in the southern part of Game Management Unit 43. These wilderness camps will get you away from the crowds and are accessed only by foot or by horseback. There is no ATV or vehicle access to any of our camps. We use stout wall tents with wood stoves and cook stoves, cots, floors, and as comfortable as we can make it when everything must be packed in on horseback. Spike camps can also be arranged.
Our wilderness mule deer hunts offer an excellent chance at a trophy buck scoring in the 180 class or better. We scout the high-country bucks and know where to find the big boys. Those lucky hunters who draw a Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness tag for Unit 43 should give us a call. These are true high country wilderness hunts. They are very challenging, physical hunts in a gorgeous backcountry setting. We suggest our high-country hunts for those hard-core hunters who are in great shape and want to hunt hard for a trophy muley.
OutWest Guides is one of the only Colorado outfitters to offer this unique horseback upland bird hunt for blue grouse and ptarmigan in the Colorado Rockies. This is truly a unique wilderness adventure that is very limited in scope. Colorado blue grouse season generally begins on September 1 and goes through mid-November. Ptarmigan season usually begins around the 10th of September and goes through the first week in October in our unit. Check with the Colorado Division of Wildlife to make sure season dates are accurate. We have an extremely limited number of hunts available for this rare trophy! If you want to hunt high country ptarmigan, contact us today because we usually book up quickly.
A guided Colorado fly-fishing trip with OutWest Guides is an adventure to be enjoyed by the whole family. OutWest Guides has over 2 miles of private access on the Crystal River, offering exclusive fly fishing for rainbow trout, German brown trout, cutthroat trout, and brook trout. We can also arrange overnight wilderness pack trips to high mountain lakes and streams are a treat every angler needs to experience.
We offer one-hour horseback rides for families with small children, two-hour horseback rides, 5-hour horseback riding into our gorgeous wilderness, and multi-day wilderness horse pack trips. Riders must be at least 7 years old.
Our wilderness hunts are an adventure that the serious big game hunter will treasure forever. Our guides are serious hunters who love to find bugling bull elk and trophy mule deer. Our hunting camps are set up "tight and right", the food is hearty, and our high country wilderness terrain is absolutely breathtaking. We are happy to help with the license application process and may have a limited number of landowner tags available. Contact us for your next high country adventure!
