Overall Impression: declining hunt quality

I've hunted with Sweetwater 8 or 9 times in the past 8 years. Although I shot a 19" 9 pointer with them in 1996, in my opinion the hunting has deteriorated in the last 5 years. In 2000, I didn't see a single buck, and very few does. In 1999, I shot the only buck our group of 3 guys saw, a small 5 pointer. Didn't see any bucks in 1998 or 1997. Despite the declining quality of the deer herd at Sweetwater, I was still going to hunt a couple of days with them in late January 2001 (their rut). When I tried to book a hunt with Alan Gentry, one of the owners, he said they had no openings during the rut. That was the final straw. If this is the way they treat their repeat customers, then I don't need to give them my business anymore. Like a number of lodges in southern Alabama, they're living off their prior reputation.
