Overall Impression: What else - excellent!

I really can't say enough good things about this outfitter and his set up. I was a novice hunter when I came to Dave's in 1998 for my first bear hunt. I returned in 1999 and am booked for 2000 (hopefuly with all women this year). With Dave's skill and my luck, I managed to fill my tag both years on the first day out. I think this is something for both of us to be proud of. Dave himself stayed with me on the first hunt because I was very nervous. Last year, he put me in a stand by myself but coached me very thoroughly on what to expect and what I should do. As my grandmother used to say - "The proof's in the pudding!" Two years out - two very nice mounts. I don't think anyone could ask for anything better than that. Being at Smoldering Lake Outfitters is like "home away from home" - only better. I don't have to cook and clean and the meals were A-1.I intend to make this an annual event as long as I am able (next year I might even bring my husband!).
