I have gone hunting with Jeff the last two years, taking a trophy in 98\\\' on Halloween, and returning there for the second week in November this fall. The third morning of my hunt I rattled in a huge buck that held up for fifteen minutes just out of bow range. He then skirted my stand just out of range into a thick swamp, What a buck! Time then passed again for about fifteen minutes to see him sneaking out of the swamp in a different location, one that allowed him a better position to determine the source of the \\\"fighting bucks.\\\" He gradually worked within the 25 yard mark and I was at full draw awaiting his next step. I had decided I was going to take the slightly quartering-to shot and realeased my arrow to see him reel around to the swamp he came from. I radioed my outfitter after about forty-five minutes to tell him I had taken a shot and could see the pass-through arrow sticking into the base of a tree that had behind the deer. After getting on his trail we had fabulous lung-blood for about 100 yards. Then the deer which was starting to circle started to lose us. We continued on the trail following the blood we would find on twigs the deer would happen to brush against. To the top of a hill that overlooked a very dense and dark spruce swamp. That was the last blood we found for the next two days. I was unsuccessful in finding that magnificent animal this fall, but I hope to find him this spring when I am going up to shed-hunt with Jeff. I may have not got that animal, but my outfitter did very well on putting me in the right spot. That was the first time a hunter had ever been in that stand site.He is also one of the friendliest and outgoing people I have ever hunted with and we continue to keep in touch.
