This was a new camp in 2009. I hope they fix some of the problems. I killed a 250lb bear, others killed were 490, 225, and a smaller bear, another was hit but not recovered. We were promised fishing was available - it wasn't. The main guide was a college student that got out of bed usually by 9am. We were told we could hunt in the morning but there was always a reason why we couldn't go (too foggy, had to skin bears, etc.). The camp manager, Steve, the owners son, took 3 hours to skin the small bear. They had no place to cool the skin or meat. He finally went into town and found out that the local meat shop would skin the bears for $20. My bear waited (in the sun at camp) for the butcher to cut up a few bison. I lost my temper and Steve threatened to hit me and kick me out of camp. The commotion woke the guide up from his nap and he finally iced my bear until the butcher could take care of it. Of the 11 hunters in camp, 4 bears were killed and one hit, no others were seen. Getting to and from stand was an ordeal. We would leave camp, wait at a local bridge until our turn to be put on stand. It took 2 hours from the time I left camp until I got into my stand. There were only 14 stands. Most of them close to roads, so that you would have cars and 4-wheelers drive by often. The same stands were used during the first weeks hunt and again during the second weeks hunt. The camp was on the second floor of an old barn, fixed up very nice, but using pine boards. There were no fire extinguishers, and only one door in and out. This was a fire disaster waiting to happen. Steve uses the "F" word a lot. Hope you don't mind foul language.
