I hunted the second week of gun season in the 2009 season. I was told that the outfitter only took 10 hunters per week well there were 17 in camp. The outfitter advertises that 80-85% of his clients have a chance at a 140" buck or better well no one in camp even saw a buck of that size. The outfitter (Todd Griffin) expects all his clients to drive themselves to and from their stands everyday. He employs one part time guide for all 17 guests. I have never seen this before on any hunts. There were three of us in my hunting party and the biggest buck we saw all week was 100", we paid $2,500.00 a person and that is just unsacceptable at that price. The outfitter never apologized to any of his guest for the bad hunt or even offered a discount on future hunts. The whole experiece was a waste of my time and money. I booked this hunt through McClain Outdoor Adventures (Mike McClain), I used this booking agent cause I figured an agent would know about his clients but it doesn't seem so in this case so to you hunters out there beware.

Outfitter Response: This statement that John Drost stated about Todd Griffen isn’t correct. Yes, the hunting was hard the second week of gun season because we had over 13” of snow and it was -14. I personally saw several bucks pushing 140” that I passed looking for a better buck. The lodging that Todd provides for his hunters I would say it’s a 5* rating. John son killed a 120” so I am not sure why he’s telling other hunters that he didn’t see anything over 100”. Todd has rule for hunters that kill bucks under 125” for extra fee of 500 and John son killed a buck around 120” so truthfully Todd should have charged him additional 500 but Todd dropped that due to the weather and the slow movement of the deer. I personally know Todd and I’ve hunted with him for the last six years and I am going back again this year. I personal killed a buck that scored 144” on a deer drive that John was present in. I’ve seen videos of other hunters passing bucks way over 150”. I personally know Todd and I know if fact that Todd has over 30 farms to pick from. If anyone else would like to talk to me about Todd please do so.
