Dale Denny and BPO (Bear Paw Outfitters) are stretched too thin! Bottom line... I booked a 5 day bear hunt and was given the following:1. Dale booked the hunt incorrectly as a 2x1 and always tried to pair me with another hunter, which I was never told why.2. His guide only new 1 area.. the area around his home which unfortunately did not show any bear. The guide verbally showed his frustration to me for not knowing other areas3. you will be transported by whatever vehicle the guide owns.. this could be a broken down truck, like I had that failed 3 times or an adequate vehicle.. go ahead and roll the dice4. If you are a large party, you will be catered too.. if you are not, like I was.. you will be treated as a 2nd class citizen.End of trip.. I did get a shot on a bear.. Albeit I missed.. and I do not blame Dale or the guide.. but the experience is FAR FAR less the one I would recommend.. SAVE YOUR MONEY.. go to Canada.. take it from a experience SCI member that goes on a dozen hunts a year.. don't do a bargain hunt with Bear Paw.. that is exactly what you will get.. below average attention with below average ability as Dale and his staff place a heavy bet on you getting an animal and forget that being an outfitter means being a host as well.

Outfitter Response: Mark wasn't truthful in his review and left out details. Apparently we did have a misunderstanding, I sold Mark a hunt for less than the 2x1 rate but at his request and to satisfy him, I gave him 1x1 guiding all but 1 day. His guide "Kelly" hunted 3 separate properties with Mark and Mark missed a big bear on one of these properties with Kelly. When Mark complained about hunting the same properties where he missed the bear, I agreed to let him hunt another property where two hunters in camp had shot bear two days earlier and another hunter missed a bear the day before. Kelly does not know this property and I told Mark this, but he wanted to go there anyway, so Kelly and I (two guides) took Mark and another Hunter to the other ranch, that's still 1 hunter per guide. On the next and last day of his hunt, Mark still did not want to hunt the ranches that Kelly normally hunts, so Kelly took Mark and the other hunter to the other ranch and they hunted the areas I recommended which I had shown Kelly where to watch the day before. Mark did not get another shot. After Mark left, he complained because I had sent him with another hunter the last day and complained that he lost hunting time when Kelly had a flat tire and when Kelly had trouble starting the truck one day. Even though Mark missed a bear, I reimbursed Mark for the day that he wasn't guided 1x1 and I reimbursed Mark for the hunting time lost while changing the tire and starting the truck. I was not going to reimburse him for the whole hunt. It makes me disgusted when a hunter fails to tell the truth and tries to ruin your business because they missed and didn't get their bear. It is unfortunate that he was unsatisfied and that he missed, but I reimbursed Mark for all legitimate complaints. I can provide hundreds of names of hunters who love my wife's cooking and I will be glad to provide the names and phone of other happy hunters who were in camp at the same time as Mark, for anyone who wants to know the truth.
