We rifle hunted in 2004 for elk - the second week in November. There were a total of six hunters in camp. To be fair the weather was too nice for elk hunting, and Bob knows a lot about hunting. Unfortunately, Bob doesn't guide. Our guide had been hired just that year, was very young, and had never killed an elk before. We knew more about elk hunting then he did. The process was that the guide would drive us to the hunting area, drop us off with directions on where we should go, then pick us up later. Most of the time our guides directions were wrong - it was obvious that he had never even been to some of the places he wanted us to hunt. Once when we got back to his truck early because the hunt was a lot shorter then he told us, we found him asleep in the cab. The area we hunted was all public land, so there were always other hunters around - one time when Bob did go out with us, he had a shouting match just before first light with some other hunters who came in on horseback behind us. I compared notes with the others in our camp and everyone had similar experiences of being dropped off and picked up later. With the guides doing other personal stuff while the hunters were in the field. Bob's a nice guy, but this trip was definiately not worth the money or time.
