This was my 3rd time hunting caribou and by far the best camp I have been at. The camp (Camp Minto), staff were very friendly and worked very hard to provide everyone a great hunt. The hunters ranged in age from the mid 30's to the late 70's. The meals were great (no losing weight on this trip). The kitchen and bunkhouses were new and very clean. We saw on average over 200 caribou a day (with in easy shooting range) and we hunted 4 hours a day. If you count the caribou we saw in the far distance, the numbers would climb to 500+ a day. The groups size ran from 4 to over 100. I can remember only a handful of cows and calfs. Were in the other camps I has lucky to have seen a total of 200 caribou in 6 days of hunting (from sunrise to sunset) and mostly cows and calfs. We had caribou walking right thru camp almost every day. The entire camp filled their tags by the 3rd day. With the largest scoring out at over 430 B.C. points. We also had great fishing for lake trout and 3 of the group had very good sucess in hunting ptarmigan. We were also guess to the best northern lights display we had very seen (4 nights in a row). I cannot wait to save up enough money to return to this great place in northern Quebec and hunt the roaming herds of caribou.
