Overall Impression: A superior hunt for the price.

I just spent 2 days (August 19 & 20, 2006) bowhunting exotics and feral hogs. During my stay I was treated like I owned the place. Alan and his family go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and fun. Dos Plumas is a well thought out and executed ranch set up for both bow and firearms hunters. During my stay I saw animals every time I was out. Although I never managed to harvest an animal, there were several opportunities that for one reason or another didn't provide for a clean shot. Alan did his job and got me on the critters, I just couldn't close the deal. But I do not measure the success of a hunt by what I manage to kill. I measure it by how much I enjoy myself and the people I am with, and let me tell you, I had a heck of a good time on this one. Don't come expecting fancy resort style living and someone walking your animal out on a leash for you to shoot. Alan runs a good working mans ranch that is rustic with a comfortable bunkhouse with full kitchen and bath and satellite TV for after the hunt. He also provides a fun and challenging hunt for free roaming animals that are very weary of humans. All at a very affordable price.
