We hunted with Dave Melton and his staff the fall of 2004. We were in the Craig Mountains, 3 hour ride by pickup then another 9 hours in by horse. The scenery was beautiful, food was absolutely awesome and the guides, Travis and Phil, were second to none. The wolves have been a problem for those guys and are thinning the elk out. The first day, our group of 4 split into two groups. My brother shot a nice 5x5 and my cousins in the other group seen a nice, 330 bull but never got a shot. I shot a 6x6 on the 4th day of the hunt. We seen bear and fresh lion tracks. Actually had a bear come into camp and get into our mess tent and then a few nights later, into the beer. It was a wonderful experience in Idaho.
