I went to Elk Creek for a Combo Elk/Deer hunt. The lodge at Elk Creek is beautiful and the accommodations are excellent. My hunt was a 2 on 1 hunt. I was paired with a hunter who was on his 4th trip to Elk Creek. On the first day , the first 15 minutes of the hunt I shot a nice 4x4 mulie that the other hunter and guide had overlooked.(spot and stalk)The country in Montana is gorgeous but you had better be in great shape for this hunt or you wont enjoy it as much. I had a really good time...however I was disappointed with the effort that was put forth by my guide to put me close to an elk the remainder of the week. Especially the last evening , when he put me in a stand behind Brents house for Elk and there was another hunter right behind me blasting at a spike deer.I just felt like he took the easy way out. He could have brought me where we had at least seen Elk earlier that week. But that's the problem when you book a 2x1 hunt. I spent the majority of the week hunting alone while the guide was trying to get the other hunter a deer. I would love to return to Elk Creek and try again. This time I would book a 1x1 hunt and hope for a more experienced guide.
