I went on an archery pronghorn antelope hunt with Dwane in September of 2001. The plan was to go when they are traditionally in the rut, and to do some decoying. First morning there was heavy fog and that kept things slow for the first little while that morning, but when the fog lifted, we saw antelope every few minutes. Saw some very nice bucks. Crawled to 150 or so yards from a buck probably in the low 80's, but we couldn't get him to decoy. Tried on several other good bucks that morning, and they just weren't interested yet. Went that afternoon about 30 miles away to a different ranch and they were ready over there. Found a lone buck with does, got to about 100 yards. Popped up the decoy, and here he came on a run. Made a heart shot on him at 24 yards, he ran a half circle less than 100 yards and was done. An awesome experience. If you've never decoyed antelope successfully, you need to try it, it is extremely exciting. Lodging was fantastic, very comfortable for a hunter, with many mounts, furs, etc. Food was great, people were very friendly and know hunting. Highly recommended.
