Ohio Monster Outfitters Report.www.ohiomonsteroutfitters.comOwner, Operator Dustin PierceWe booked a 5 day semi-guided hunt for the week of November 5th near Zanesville Ohio. Our trip was to consist of us staying in a Motor Home at a local campground (I have a motor home that we would be driving from PA) recommended by Dustin. He was to make all arrangements for us prior to arrival. We were then to be hunting on a 2000 acre farm as the only hunters for the year. We would be picked up each day via a truck by Dustin or one of his guides to be taken to a stand location. It was suggested that we bring our own stands “just in case” we found a better spot. We checked with 6 references and had several calls with Dustin before booking our trip. A deposit of 1000 was sent, 50% the cost of our hunt.Instead here is what we got.· Arrived in Zanesville Ohio at his address as directed. Only to find out he wasn’t there and no longer lived at the address. He was in the process of being kicked out / divorced by his wife.· After leaving several phone messages, Dustin met us at a Tractor Supply parking lot near Zanesville. He then had us make reservations at Dillon state park as the place he planned on us staying was closed for the season. He never setup our camping arrangements as promised.· On the way to Dillon we stopped at the 2000 acre farm. This farm is owned by a local Zanesville physician that is friends of the family. There was already someone hunting the property. We later found out that this farm was not leased, he just had permission to hunt there.· Dustin picks us up Saturday to go scouting in a Chevy Camaro (Blue) with temporary license tags. He indicated his truck broke down. · Saturday evening he takes us scouting to a housing development near Dillon called Stone Henge. He tells us that he is leasing the undeveloped land and that we do not need permission slips because we are hunting with an outfitter.· We hunted Sunday from our own climbing stands as he did not have any stands for us in this area.· At 4:30 in the afternoon (an all day sit) he comes and gets us telling us he lost his lease for this property and that we had to leave immediately. We later find out that hunting is NOT permitted on this property, someone called and filed a complaint.· We then proceed to hunt several different properties over the next few days. Bells hog farm, which we later discover was not leased and allows anyone to hunt that asks. No exclusively leased land as promised.· Dustin Was 40 minutes late picking us up Tuesday morning.· Dustin ran out of gas on our way back to Dillon state park on Tuesday evening. We arrive back at the campground over an hour and a half later than before.· Wednesday morning after waiting a half hour for him to show (5:30) am I called him. He claimed that his car would not start and that he did not have my number. However, he called me several times a day the days before.· Dustin never picked us up in a truck. He drove us around in the Camaro that did not have room for two hunters, two treestands and all our gear. After all this happened, we asked Dustin to meet us at the campground at 10:00 on Wednesday. When he arrived we told him this was just not working out. This was to be our dream hunt and was not even close. He asked us what he did wrong beyond the obvious. We gave him the list to start above as a starting point. We said that the best thing for us to do was to end our hunt. Upon doing this, we felt that a fair deal would be to get half our money back. He said 750 and we said half. He agreed, but asked to pay via check. I said no since I gave him cash. He then asked if he could have my bank account number and do a money transfer, I again said no and wanted cash. He then claimed his bank was 1 hour away and it would take him some time to get the cash. He requested that we meet him along the highway in 2 hours. We said no to that request and asked that he meet us at the campground at 12:30pm. We also warned him to not stiff us and to do the honorable thing. 12:30 came and went with no Dustin. We called him several times with our calls going straight to voicemail. After an additional two hours, we then called the local sheriffs’ department and Ohio DNR. We filed a report with the sheriffs’ office. According to them, this is not the first time for this behavior and we were told he would be jailed when caught. We are still trying to contact / work with the DNR to see what we can do in respect to that.

I hunted with Dan during the Ohio Muzzleloader seasons of 2004 and 2005. Dan has a High fenced Whitetail Deer Preserve but he also owns/leases a few hundred acres that surround his Fenced operation that is used for Regular Ohio season whitetail hunting; that is the land I hunted on. In 2004 I passed up a solid 130-140+ B&C deer on the first day (passed on a so-so shot as the deer was moving through the brush at a steady pace trailing a doe). It did not bother me though so because of the type of sign I saw, I knew there were bigger bucks in the area and I had no problem holding out as I had three more days of hunting left. In 2004, I ended up seeing a total of 11 deer in 4 days but did not see another big one. I left with an empty tag but another hunter in camp shot a beautiful 9 pointer that'd easily score low 140's B&C.To me is was a fun and successful hunt.********************************************** In the Dec. 2005 muzzlelaoder season, I saw14 deer in the 4 days I hunted. On the last day I harvested a nice healthy high 120's+ B&C 8 pointer. Another hunter in camp also shot an 8 pointer that probably scored 115 B&C.********************************************** The location and land are phenomenal. I've been hunting whitetails for 39 years and believe me when I tell you that the amount of over all deer sign and buck sign I saw (scapes, rubs, tracks etc... etc...) was more than I have seen in any area I have ever hunted in.Dan is very knowledgable about the land and deeron his land... but like all areas you have to listen to the expert who knows the area. If he tells you to stay put in the stand all day, then stay put. Bottom line, he and his people will bust their butts to get you in front of deer. As always though, hunting is hunting and there are no guarantees but if you listen to his suggestions, you will see deer. I was very happy with the two years I hunted there and I have since re-booked for the 2006 November Rut at his place; sure will beat hunting during the cold and windy December Muzzleloading season.!!!All in all I would have no problem recommending Dan and his place to others.*** Contact me if you wish. ***

Outfitter / Owner: Martin "Ace" Dennison

Hunter: Bill Drain

Animals Hunted: Whitetail Deer

Ace and his two guides, Porky and Anthony, really know the area and where the deer are. I saw 24 deer in 5 days, including two shooter bucks (125"+) and one that I couldn't tell due because it was too early to see well. My uncle took a 146" 8-pointer. We had a great time, and I'm looking forward to going back again soon.

well to make it as short as possible, the bucks i saw were the biggest i have ever seen in my life , i had to past on 60 bucks before shooting one that was in my class i was hunting 130-140 class buck, and it was a 10 pointer with a 17 inch spread ,it will score 145,i guest i should also say that this is a high fenced hunt ,and it is fully guarateed hunt no harvest no charge,i did rate the food as poor because we didn,t get any lunch or dinner the second day of the hunt, also i rated the guides as poor because the guides have poor skills at judging the score of the bucks in the field ,

This will be my third year bow hunting with Green Valley outfitters. Last year I hit a 145 class buck, and did not find him, but I am going back this year. After hunting alone last year on the last day of my hunt, I asked Sylvester to hunt with me. After walking me to my stand, he went to a stand at the edge of a corn field.I did not get a buck that day but he killed a 16 point 205" monster.I should not be telling this story but Sylvester& his partner Mike run a great camp.

Ty has great property with some quality deer.He is a very honest, hard working outfitter and just an overall great guy. I bow hunted for a week last October(10/25/03) when hunting conditioned were not at thier best (very hot) and I still saw 30 deer 15 of them were bucks in which 5 were shooters and 3 were 150+ I made a bad judgement call my first day and never harvested a deer but that did not keep me from booking before I left to hunt this coming season. Ty films deer throughout the year and has some incredible footage of deer on land you will be hunting...very exciting!! Cant wait to get back there in November.

Animals Hunted: WHITETAIL DEER

Me and a buddy purchased a hunt from Dan on ebay. We were told that there would be 4 of us in camp for hunts outside the fence. There was about 10. I had spoken with other hunters previous to my hunt and was giving the bad news, that it was bogus. So before we even got there our hunt was basically ruined and our money was wasted. Everything that I was told from the previous hunters turned out to be true. Dan can talk crap with the best of them and make you a believer. Even the hunters inside the fence were scammed. He had advertised 150 class bucks for these guys and, believe me, the 150's were there but he wouldn't let the hunters take any. One night a fistfight almost broke out between outfitter and hunters...it was crazy. He also lied about which counties we would be hunting. So anyways, back to my hunt...the first morning I DID see a quality buck and 2 does. I saw 1 more doe the rest of the hunt. My buddy saw about 5 or 6 small bucks, but no wallhangers the whole week. We were fortunate TO SEE WHAT WE HAD, because I think half the hunters had already cut their hunts short and left for home, because they weren't seeing anything. Dan did offer us a free hunt the following year. No thanks. I by no means endorse this outfitter.

Outfitter Review: Ohio Trophy Buck Guide Service - OH

Outfitter / Owner: Bill Allen

Hunter: Brent Carter

Animals Hunted: DEER

Bill Allen lied about everything. His brochure is totally false for kentucky hunt. There was no lake house, no guides, no food plots. no deer to be seen. Had plenty of disapointment. I even talk to DNR in Kentucky they said Bill w/Ohio Trophy Buck Guide Service didn't even have a license for hunters to hunt in Ky. He has changed his website, but I want to reach more people to be aware of his services. I along w/9other people on this hunt were very dissatisfied.

Dan sells hunts on E bay. I went hunting with him in December of 2002. I sat for about 30 hours and saw 1 doe. He runs a lot of hunters a week through camp. Dan has a high fence deer hunts that has big bucks in it. Dan had a picture of a B&C buck that he states was shot out side the fence. I don't know. He takes to many hunters for the amount of ground he has to hunt. There was good buck sign on his property but he doesn't have enough ground. There was 11 hunters at camp for 4 days of hunting. One small 8 pt. was shot.

Outfitter Review: Whitetail Outfitters of Ohio - Newark OH

Outfitter / Owner: Ty McCombs

Hunter: Ed Nealis

Animals Hunted: Whitetail Deer

Ty stated that you would have to hunt more than once before he would allow you to kill anything over 130.I hunted with him 2yrs. he recommended my group to hunt the first week in 2009.Price was 2500. Ty was surprised that one of us killed a 125 deer. 2010, we were asked to book the second week. we did. He told us that that do to the economy that he was going to drop the price to 1500. he stated both years that no one hunts the same stands from the week before hunters. that was not true at all. Ty is not professional when it comes to his guides. He talks down to them and in turn they dont preform to there potential and therefore they dont preform for you. I never had a problem with ty personally, but i witnessed several occassions where either he belittled his guides or even worse, other hunters. I hunt all over and found whitetail outfitters of ohio to be a money pit of sorts. Just ask him of his 10yr plan.It will explain what I mean.
