Outfitter Review: Northwest Missouri Outfitters - St. Joseph MO

Outfitter / Owner: Dave Frampton

Hunter: Scott Weihrauch

Animals Hunted: not specified

We had a very good hunt with Dave.Although none of the four of us took a deer we had opportunities. The weather averaged 65-70 degrees the whole time we were in camp which really limited deer movement. Lodging was excellent, guide worked very hard and food was excellent. We had a great time and will go back to NWMO.

My friend and I decided to go on a semi- guided hunt and found NWMO. We could not have been more pleased. The guys were professional and accommodating. I saw 'shooter' bucks every day of my hunt and took home a great 12 point. I would recommend NWMO to anyone looking for a hunt with great people, good food, nice lodge and AWESOME deer!

I have been bow hunting now for 26 years and I have had the opportunity to hunt some of the most recognized trophy areas in the country and Canada. When possible I prefer to hunt a private property where I can do my scouting and strategizing as it is part of the challenge of harvesting a trophy buck.Though I have been fortunate to hunt many private lands there have been areas that I have wanted to hunt and the only way to do so was to pay for a guided hunt. This past late season after shooting two mature quality bucks in my home state of Illinois, I didn’t want to be done bow hunting so I decided to research areas with over the counter permits that I felt would yield quality animals.I looked into Kentucky, Indiana, Nebraska, South Dakota, Ohio, and Missouri. After much research and visiting with various outfitters on the phone I made the decision to book my late season hunt with Dave Frampton of Northwest Missouri Outfitters.I was specifically looking to hunt over food sources out of a ground blind and also from tree stands.I told Dave what it was that I would like to try and accomplish while there on my hunt.He shared with me that they have been putting in allot of effort into food plotting, scouting and strategically placing stands for his clients to have success and felt that he could accommodate my requests. My wife Gail accompanied me and we arrived on Sunday evening January 9th because a huge front carrying allot of snow with it was to start early the next day (Monday) and go through Tuesday and with it brought sub zero temperatures. This was the weather I was hoping for to get the deer up and moving on the food. The evening when my wife Gail and I arrived, Dave took the time to show me aerial photographs of the properties they owned and leased (over 7,000 acres) and where he felt I would have my best opportunities based on their scouting prior to my arrival. He also had ground blinds set up for me prior to my arrival even though it was not something they had done before to accommodate my request.Although Dave himself guided me all week it was evident that his guides were interested in how I was doing as well. One of Dave’s guides Dan showed up on Monday and spent most of the day to help.Dave has a great group of guides that are dedicated to doing whatever they can to help their clients achieve success. They understand that if their clients leave satisfied that they will not only be back but they will tell others about their experience.Another one of Dave’s guides Kevin came on Friday and went out of his way to hang a stand where I felt one should be. Neither Dan nor Kevin were being paid to come and help as it was the last week of season and they had already finished their guiding and back to work at their full time jobs. It was rare for someone like me to come this late in the season.I ended up hunting a total of 6 days and actually roughed the cold temperatures for 9 actual hunts.During that time I saw 87 deer and had encounters with what I would consider two trophy bucks. The first one was a beautiful young 8 pointer that would score 135” and I passed on him as I was holding out for something bigger as I have been fortunate to shoot some beautiful bucks and I had seen Dave’s trail cam pictures and knew what was in the areas I was hunting. The second buck I would have definitely shot if he presented a shot but he only got within 60 yards of me. It was a legitimate 150” 10 pointer that Dave had pictures of.During my time there Dave allowed me to be involved in the decisions of my hunt and he did not deceive me at all with regard to their efforts of food plotting. I hunted over, soy bean, corn, alfalfa, clover, and turnip plots and they were all productive. The food and the accommodations at his lodge were excellent as well. The rolling terrain of Northwest Missouri (just 10 miles south of Iowa) is an awesome habitat for producing great whitetails. This was truly a great experience and I have made great friends with Dave and all of his crew.I will definitely be returning as they are not only working very hard to improve their lands and the quality of animals, they are knowledgeable, know their properties, and they want you to have success.

Outfitter Review: Hunt Bucks Here - Lake Ozark MO

Animals Hunted: Elk

My elk hunt was cancelled just 3 days before hunt. Bad knee was the excuse. I asked for refund but was refused. I asked for new "guide" which was stated in their form and was told they wouldn't do that but then said if they provided one, he wouldn't be very good. So did I want to wait until next year or go on "bad" hunt. After reading the many bad reviews both here and several other sites, I realize this outfit is pathetic and probably outright frauds. We need to get some "official" involvement on this. They are even listed in the Bugle. They operate under different names also..............

Toilet bowl of all guided hunts.. This outfitter is a scam artist. Sells hunts on Ebay knowing full well u will not be able to leave feedback on Ebay after the actual hunt due to Ebays 60 day policy for leaving feedback. The 60 day policy has expired prior to hunt actually taking place. 1 of the so called guides were local residents that had never killed an elk in their life and didnt even show up on the second morning. One of the guide ran out of gasoline and ruined the entire first morning hunt. The owner Kevin Andersen is so out of shape that all he wanted to do was walk 2 tracks in cover that was so thick that visibility was only 10 yards either side of the trail. On different occasions I ended up hunting without a guide so that I could get up high to try and locate elk. After spotting a small herd on the second morning I got back to camp and told the owner where the elk were and he refused to take me up there. They promise tent camps in the mountains and then use the excuse of locked Weyerhauser gates as an excuse to put you up in a campground. The outfitter refused to stay out hunting all day (during the rut) and told me that we were to do it "is way" or "no way". I had to call the state police to contact the owner to get him to ship my gear back that was previously arranged, packaged and prepaid. Only bright spot to this hunt was that I met a guy recommended by the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation that guided me that last 3 days and had an awesome hunt. I ended up having to drive 25 miles north of where camped to meet up with this guy, but it was well worth it. He got me elk and had a couple close encounters. Bottom line THIS WAS A JOKE OF A HUNT WITH THE OUTFITTER...... I managed to salvage the last 3 days with a local guy that was recommended by the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation. This guy then had to be paid by Wapiti Creek, but he had to engage the owner of Wapiti Creek to get paid in which the owner told him he didnt have any money to pay him. He got paid 2 weeks later. The only reason I left a rating of 1 star was due to the fact that I had a great hunt only after hooking up with the guy recommended by the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation. Next time I go to Washington State to hunt elk will be directly to hunt with the guiy from the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation, definetly not with Wapiti Creek.

This was a very disappointing hunt. Randy Moseley, the outfitter, sent several game camera pictures over the summer, but when we went hunting there were very few deer. There were 15 hunters hunting the first hunt, and although the webpage advertises that they have access to 6000 acres, 7 of us out of the 15 hunters were all assigned to one 570 acre farm. By the end of three days, no hunter had seen a good buck, and 2 young hunters had shot does. The farmer acknowledged knowing of only "one nice eight pointer and a ten pointer with a broken main beam" So after three days of a 5 day hunt, my partners decide thay had had enough and we went home.

This hunt was a joke. Nothing as promised my hunt was suposed to be fully guided for 5 with meals and lodging it turned in to three days after hidden expenses you don't find out about untill after they have your money. There was no food at all not even the milk and cereal that kevin had told me was in the tent trailer from a hunter the week before my guide was an older local guy he was very nice but not a real guide at all. I never seen an elk let alone a three point or better bull these guys just drive around on roads with every other hunter in washington. Dont waste your money. they sound great on there web site and on the phone don't let them fool you too.

This is the 7th year in a row I've hunted at Grand River. This is a first class operation, good food, lodging, and the outfitter really knows the deer in the area. I've taken several p&y deer in the past. You will be hunting private farms with lots of crp and ag fields mostly corn and beans. Hunting areas are limited to very few hunters during the year so pressure it at a minimuin. All stands are scouted mostly with camaras and by the outfitter. Great place to hunt and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great hunt.Great area with a great price. Good hunting !

I paid $2000 for a guided hunt and was placed on a 15 acre wooded tract. On two sides of the small tract were houses and a road on the third side. I was instructed to watch the roadside and shoot the deer feeding on the grass. I was to shoot across the road. I could not believe what I was being told. I asked for another tract and was told there was no other tracts. Their website advertised 13,000 acres.

I had a 5 day archery deer hunt with Fred Dotson of Rut n Bucks (he lives in TN) in October of '09. Amazingly, he could not get out of bed to take me hunting on two of these days. I sat around watching tv while he slept. Fred flat out lied about a number of things. Prior to the first morning hunt he told me to be ready at 5:30 and after he didn't get up told me my hunt was not to begin until noon. Many rumors about personal issues from personnel at Ramsey Farms and other hunters. I would never recommend Fred Dotson to another hunter.

Outfitter Review: Thunder Valley Outfitters - Missouri

Outfitter / Owner: Jason

Hunter: Paul Mangiamele

Animals Hunted: whitetail deer

I have hunted with over a dozen different outfitters and I have never been treated the way I was with Thunder Valley Outfitters. The owner and guides are from north Jersey so the whole experience was lacking the southern hospitality right from the start. He advertised thousands of acres and a private undisturbed hunting, one morning i had 2 pickup trucks park under my tree stand and drive the woods he claimed was his, they must have shot 30 rounds of ammo thru the woods and by the way we were bow hunting, he had a problem with me asking for an area to hunt where i wouldn't have that happen to me any more. The guides were friendly but they were guiding and hunting with the owner the entire time 7 paying customers were in camp that was there main concern. he made us feel like we were a burden to him.i had hunted 3 days straight with only seeing a couple of does when i called the guide at lunch to get down for a breather, after picking me up he told me that the owner told him to leave me out there and that I was a whiner for wanting to get out. Also, he was leaving customers standing on the road for hours waiting for a ride back to camp in the middle of nowhere without any cell phone service it was not good especially if there was an emergency.i feel i can speak for most of the group 1 guy out of 7 harvested a deer and he wasn't even happy about it because all the owner talked about was his 500 dollar fee for a deer shot under 130. Oh by the way the hunter shot the deer early morning and could not get in touch with anyone until late evening. They were busy hunting, the owner was very arrogant and demanding it was his way or the highway, some hunters hunted the same stand the entire 5 days, these stands had been hunted the week prior from a different group of hunters and the stands were shot out very very little deer sighting.I actually left a day early and spent $250.00 penalty fee to change my flight, I could not take another minute of the owner acting the way he was towards the group of hunters. It was a complete disaster, it was a first time trip for some of the guys, I reassured them that all other outfitters are not the same and there are some people out there that care especially after they take about $20,000 from you.

Fred makes it sound good until you get there and then its like it or lump it and he uses religion to make you feel safe. Although he does have some good deer crossing his farms, but they don't stay long. The deer don't have much reason to hang out there long. Our hunt was sadly a big 700 mile disappointment.

We had an unusual Low Pressure System over us the entire hunt. Oh well, maybe next year. Don is top notch and knows the land. Most complainers are new or just can't be pleased. That's the fact of dealing with the public. You have to wait on a very big buck...PATIENCE IS THE KEY....I have passed several bucks up to 140 over the last 5 years. I missed a 180 two years ago because of a long shot while the monster was running. He came out of nowhere. Can't wait until the hunt next year. Thanks again Don.

We paid for a five day, fully guided hunt. The first 2 days, I didn't get into the stand until 1 hour after daylight because he overslept. we had to drive our own vehicle 30-45 minutes to our stands every time. After the second day, we had to fend for ourselves. We ended up having to do our own scouting and find our own stand sites. His new building was fairly nice, and his wife cooked ok, but he had NO commitment to our satisfaction. The last two days, we didn't even see him, and on the last morning, he didn't say good-bye, thanks, or kiss my foot. He got our money so he was satisfied. Hunted hard and between all of us saw 1 115" 8 pt, but chose not to shoot.

I HAVE HUNTED WITH MANY DIFFERENT OUTFITTERS IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE US AND CANADA. I AM A WHITETAIL ENTHUSIAST AND DUE TO MY EXPERIENCE, IT IS VERY EASY FOR ME TO DETERMINE A QUALITY OUTFITTER/HUNT, VERSE A PERSON WHO BOOKS HUNTS TO SIMPLY PAY HIS/HER BILLS. WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED THROUGH HUNTING WITH DAVE IS AS FOLLOWS: HE IS 100% HONEST AND TRUELY WANTS EVERY HUNTER TO GET THE BUCK OF THEIR DREAMS, HE WILL ONLY LEASE GROUND THAT HE SCOUTS PRIOR TO SIGNING,HENCE MAKING CERTAIN IT HAS QUALITY DEER LIVING ON IT, HE HAS MANY TRAIL CAMERAS OUT ALL SEASON AND WILL SEND CURRENT PHOTOS TO ALL BOOKED HUNTERS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER/FALL, HE PUTS IN MANY FOOD PLOTS ON ALL OF HIS GROUND TO ENSURE THE DEER STAY THERE, HE PLACES STANDS (LADDER,GROUND BLINDS, OR BOX STANDS, FOR ALL OF HIS HUNTERS-EVEN SEMI-GUIDED,HE DOES NOT OVER-BOOK HIS HUNTS AND HIS RESULTS WILL DEPICT THAT FACT, I HAVE HUNTED WITH DAVE FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, AND LET ME DESCRIBE HOW THE HUNTS WERE INCLUDING RESULTS. THE FIRST YEAR 4 OF US WENT OUT AND WE KILLED ONE BIG 8 PTR. I PERSONALLY SAW APPROX. 12 BUCK DURING THE WEEK. THE OTHER 2 GUYS WITH US BOTH SAW SHOOTERS (1 PROBABLE BOONER) AND COULD NOT GET SHOTS. TRIP 2 (2007)- 6 OF US WENT OUT AND 5 WENT HOME WITH VERY NICE DEER: (2 10PTRS, 1 11 PTR., AND 2 8PTRS.)I KILLED ONE OF THE 10'S,BUT PASSED A 9 THE DAY PRIOR AND SAW A MONSTER 2 DAYS PRIOR,COULDN'T GET A SHOT. TRIP 3 (2008)- 7 OF US WENT OUT AND 3 WENT HOME WITH VERY BIG DEER, 2-12 PTRS. AND 1 8 PTR. ALL THE OTHER GUYS HAD GREAT HUNTS ALSO: ONE GUY HIT A MONSTEROUS 10 PTR. AND NEVER FOUND IT, ANOTHER GUY MISSED A VERY BIG BUCK, ANOTHER GUY PASSED UP 2 10PTRS. AND SAW ONE EVEN BIGGER BUT COULDN'T GET A SHOT AT IT, AND THE FINAL GUY IN OUR GROUP NEVER PULLED THE TRIGGER, BUT IN 5 DAYS HE PASSED UP 27 BUCKS(1 OF THEM HAD A 20 INCH SPREAD BUT ALL OF HIS TINES WERE BROKEN FROM FIGHTING). IN CLOSING, FOR ANYONE WHO IS SKEPTICAL SIMPLY LOOK AT DAVES' RESULTS. THIS IS A 100% FAIR CHASE HUNT-NOT HIGH FENCE SHOOT! SO IF YOU WANT GUARANTEES,GO TO A PRESERVE-IF YOU WANT A GREAT,HONEST,FAIR PRICED HUNT WHERE THE POSSIBILITY OF A TRUE BOONER EXISTS, I SUGGEST YOU BOOK WITH DAVE.

Our party of 5 booked a 2008 first season rifle hunt with Grand River Oufitters. This a is production line hunt with 65 hunters a week moved through. The main lodge was "smoking allowed" so we ate pretty poor food in a cigarette smoke haze. Don has lots of blinds, some in pretty poor condition, where you are assigned to hunt. Our group seemed to be assigned on the "edge" of deer country. We slept in a second cabin where there was no smoking, thank God! You transport yourself to the daily hunt, and call if someone shoots a deer. Out of 65 hunters there were several deer shot, but almost all were the 2-3 year old 8 points with no mass. This is definitely not a trophy hunt - everyone shoots the first deer they see with 4 points on one side.

I really was surprised how challenging the hunt was. I really didn't know what to expect, however it tooks us the entire day @ 6 hours to harvest 4 boars (4 hunters). The boars were very hard to hunt, they were in s pretty heavy wooded area, and the boars were always on the move. We had to do alot of walking and stalking to get with in range to take the shots. The average shot was about 75 yds.We did harvest 4 real nice boars with tusks, the whole experience was 1st class. They processed the meat and the sausage they made was out of this world. When we booked this hunt we were told only 12 Bow Hunters in camp. Got there and found 34 Bow Hunters. 14 of us sharing 1 bathroom. Out of 34 bow hunters only 3 bucks shot. We were there the week before rifle and all Don Cox was concerned about was working on his rifle stands. This guy talks out both sides of his mouth. If you want to go on a good bowhunt beware of this guy. He is only interested in your money. Rifle hunting is his main stay. The first 2 weeks he had at least 99 rifle hunters and only 56 bucks were shot. Go onto his website and you'll see alot of small bucks. All of his land is leased and he ishammering the land. BEWARE OF THIS GUY!!!!!

I was able to meet Jamie a couple of years ago when I booked a hunt with him,the first year I went hunting with Jamie I only bow hunted. I had a chance to shot a 120-130 class 8pt the first morning I was in the stand, but I oupt to pass on him in order to get a better buck. I didn't get the oppurtunity to get a bigger one but I did see a couple of bigger bucks. The second year I was able to go during the rifle season, I was able to get a nice ten pt and a couple of does, which one of those does I shot with my bow. One thing I can say is the abundance of animals is there for sure and there are quality animals also, not everytime you go out in the woods are you going to see big bucks, but that is hunting, those deer didn't get that big by being stupid. Jamie and his wife Rhonda really makes us feel at home when we are there and the folks that we have met around town have really taken a liken to us, so I will continue to hunt with Jamie until he runs me off.

Animals Hunted: whitetail deer

Spent the week of Nov. 3-8 at the J$S camp in Scotland Co. Missouri., just barely over the Iowa line. I can't say enough good things about the place or the people running it. I've been on numerous outfitted trips before and this was top notch in all respects. The guides are fantastic and really know the deer. They spend many hours glassing and figuring out how to get their clients on good deer. They have alot of good deer. Hit the rut pretty good this year and saw many bucks chasing and fighting. Had numerous deer within range before finally arrowing a nice 10 point cruising a strip of timber between two corn fields... picture perfect. My brother in law passed a 140 class buck the first day, saw many deer bigger, just not in range. Still, he agrees that this is a quality outfit run by good folks who genuinely want to give their clients a good hunt. I tagged out the fourth day but continued to doe hunt and film a little. As it happens, I had and even bigger buck walk right under me and hang around for several minutes. At least a 150 10 point. Got some good footage as he wandered into a bean field and bred a doe. To also make the trip memorable, I spotted on three occasions a totally albino hen turkey. Great hunting, classic stand setups, attention to detail and good people. We rebooked for the Iowa camp next year immediately. Can't wait.

My group of five booked and paid for a bowhunt. I took a good buck. The other four in my party and members of other parties DID NOT get what they paid for, as Don and his crew were preparing for a group of 60 + gun hunters and did not show much interest in the bowhunters.Buyer beware! Probably a great gun hunting spot, but very very poor for bowhunters, even though there is great potential. Look elsewhere!

Outfitter / Owner: Dave Frampton

Animals Hunted: Whitetail Deer

Me and two other hunters hunted with Dave Frampton opening weekend of Missouri rifle season 2007. Dave sent us pictures every week untill we took our hunt so we were expecting to see some very quality animals by the looks of his trail cam pictures wrong. I do not know where he got his pictures but we did not see any of the genetics from the pictures in the deer we saw. When we arrived we called Dave to meet us to show us where we would hunt the next day after about an hour and a half we met him at a local store we fallowed him to the location as well as we could because he was going about 60mph on gavel roads and we had no idea where we were going. When we arrived at where we would hunt we got in and road with him he drove about 25mph threw where we would be hunting pointing out the stands. When we came back out it was time to settle up with the rest of the money which seemed to be his main concern he never introduced himself to me or the other two huntersonly getting the rest of the money. One of the hunters that was with me has a lung disease which we told Dave, but he told us we would have to walk in which was very hard for him to do. We saw several young bucks the first day and a half but nothing like we expected so we called Dave about changing locations we had to wait about four hours for him to show up when he did he took us to a 500 acre cut corn feild with a six foot ladder stand in one end and another ladder stand in the other end faceing each other they did not have a stand set up for a third so they brought one with them and put it on the other side of the creek where they had not scouted as they wore cologne and they put the stand with the wind blowing in the direction the deer would be coming from. At the end of the night when I went to pick the other two hunters up they told me they had a tractor in the feild next to them plowing and the farmer waving at them as they tryed to hunt and I had a four wheeler going around the feild where I was hunting. We called Dave and told him we would go back to where we were hunting before we asked him if anyone had killed anything and he siad 1 out of 27 had killed a 120inch 9 piont.Hard to believe with all the 150+ bucks we saw in the pictures. If you want some good trail cam pictures go with Dave if you want to kill a deer go with someone else.

Outfitter / Owner: Monty Pitts

Animals Hunted: Whitetail

This is the first time I have hunted on a game ranch. I was looking for a nice 130-140 score whitetail for the wall. As it turned out I shot a deer on the first day that the guide said would score in that area. When the deer was down it was only a 120 class. The guide admitted he had called it wrong. Anyway, it had a nice symmetrical rack and it was a deer that would look nice on the wall. I understand these mistakes can happen. I went home happy with a decent trophy and a partial refund because of the smaller deer. If a game ranch type hunt is what you are looking for these folks are probably among the best in the business, Friendly and honest country folks and lots of different kinds of animals. Excellent job on the butchering. Definately recommended.

I hunted with Monster Deer Outfitters own and operated by Robert Durham in Putnam County Missouri the week of September 21-27, 2007. It was a horrible experience. Robert stated that he offered excellent oppertunity at trophy whitetail and advertises 90% shot oppertunities at Pope & Young class deer. My experience along with 3 other hunters in camp that week all agreed that this hunt was very decietfull and far from the truth. None of us ever saw a Pope & Young class deer, and Very Few deer were even sighted at all by us 4 hunters. The accomdations were very poor as well in this new lodge that had no vetilation what soever. The hunting experience was a complete rip off in my opion. Other hunts should know that Monster Deer Outfitters in Putnam County Missouri operated by Robert Durham is a deceitful outfitting opertation. Contact me if you have any further questions. Dale K.

monster deer outfitters or whtever name they elect to use next is a bad outfit in every respect. Bottom line is you'll most likely be very sorry you book with them if you do go on one of their hunts. Everything they advertise and say they provide is a very far stretch of someone;s imagination. Four of us booked a bow hunting trip forthe next week of bow season and few deer were ever sighted. Robert put us in stands that had been hunted hard the week before. He did not have the number of stands and locations he said were available. The deer quantity and quality was very poor. And the accomodations were miserable. Robert runs a very lousy operation. Hopefully you'll read this review before you get taken. Good luck!

September 15, 2007 will be our 4th hunting trip with Robinson Hunts. We hunted rifle, muzzelloader, turkey and now bow. Our hunting group has been fortunate enough to harvest three 8 points, a 12 point and a 13 point, not to mention 4 gobblers. There is definately no shortage of whitetail deer and turkey. The Robinson family will go above and beyond to make sure that your hunt is a successful one. We have not only found good hunting property, but have found a special friendship. We truly believe that we will never hunt or just spend time with a better family than the Robinson family.

Almost everyone in camp is a repeat customer which tell you a ton about the outfitter. The land is excellent and the stands are great for a long day sit. Lodging, meals and service are great. We hunted with Grand River Outfitter on the openning week of the 2006 firearms season. Don's ability pattern deer movement was evident by his stand placements, there where 27 bucks killed by the end of the 2nd day and 38 by the end of the week. The quality of the deer ran from 100 BC to 180 BC.. it was up to the hunter to determine the quality of the deer he wanted to harvest. The accomidations and the food was also very good. The only negative I found was that there was not a good area to clean or butcher your deer. With that said, Don assured us that he would have a nice cleaning and processing station for the 2007 season. We have already booked our hunts for next year (2007). We had a great hunt and most of all a "GREAT TIME"

My brother-in-law and I bowhunted with Ed the second week of November in Northern Missouri. Great hosts and had an great hunt despite not scoring. The weather turned off warm and coupled with a very bright moon it made it tough. The rut was not quite there yet. Despite this, we had action all week. My third day I saw the largest buck I have ever laid eyes on, easily 175-180 class with a brow tine as long as his G-2. Got within 66 yards but just not close enough. My brother-in-law saw the same deer at about the same distance a few minutes later on the same farm. Fantastic guides who work hard. These folks are extremely scent conscious and require that you wear scent control suits and elimitrax boot covers to your stands. Stand positions are well thought out. I can recommend Ed's outfit whole-heartedly with no reservations.

THere is no way that anyone could expect more from them. It's a family business and it shows. When we arrived the first day. He said get your camo on and lets go. We didn't even book to hunt that day but he got us out there anyhow. It was a none guided hunt because we all are experience turkey hunters but you could tell that they knew the area well and explained the boundries. WE hunted on over 2000 acres where we were at and he had more ground we could hunt but we had not reason to leave. LAter that same evening we took a ride on the provided mules and polaris scambler. During this time we easily seen over 100 turkeys in the fields and a good number of long beards. I personally shot a 26lbs gobbler with a 1 and 3/8" spurs and 11" beard. IF the weather would have been right. "It rained and was windy for two days in the morning." Everyone would have filled both of their tags. ALso he has many bass pounds filled with fish and although they aren't very big yet it's nothing to catch 25 bass in a hr around 10" WE also saw a good many deer and the sign was rediculous. CAnn't wait to go back next year. Also even though we didn't deer hunt you can tell they are very knowledgable and even have scent free soaps and use them on the sheets as well. A GREAT OUTFITTER AND A NICE GUY we would be going bowhunting with him as well but the guys that went working in a hunting store and we can't get off work to hunt 5 days strait all day in the fall.

I arrived in camp after a long drive at the designated arrival time only to be told that my room was not ready or cleaned yet and my sheets were being washed. After a couple of hours of waiting it was finally ready, they said, however upon entering the room the floors were dirty and the previous hunters trash was still in the waste can.The owner had let most of the food run out and had to make a run to town to get more, which was low quality compared to other camps I have been to.The first night was like being at a frat house party with people running up and down the halls outside the rooms screaming and practicing turkey calls until 2 a.m.The first morning out hunting we had at daylight several toms gobble but the guide would not call to them after they flew down, and when he did he would call so low that I could only slightly hear him behind me.So I began calling on my own and had a Tom respond hot,but the guide told me not to call anymore ,it would spook the gobbler !! I then saw the Tom at 30 yards coming around some brush where it would have presented a shot at 20 yards in a opening and my guide stands up and begans glassing the other end of a corn field !!!!Needless to say the bird was gone. The next day was worse as we set up again , my guide falls asleep only waking up when I tried calling to remind me not to call and spook the birds then he goes back to sleep!!!When ask about his experience, this was his first year guiding here for turkeys. When we got back to camp(MISSOURI ONLY ALLOWS TURKEY HUTING UNTIL 1 P.M.) I packed up and came home instead of hunting the third day with this guide that has less experience that I do.Not sure about the deer hunts this outfitter offers, but be carful which turkey guide you get and bring your own cooler of food!!!

Outfitter / Owner: Monty Pitts

Hunter: Chris Schneweis

Animals Hunted: Hog

My father and I booked a summer hog hunt with High Adventure Ranch. For $495, we got 2 nights lodging in one of their 5 log cabins (we had to provide our own food). The cabins had a stove, microwave, water, full bath, A/C and 3 full-size beds. They were very clean, and were plenty big for 3-4 adults. As for the hunt, the guides are just local kids that grew-up around where this ranch is located, and are pretty inexperienced. However, they seem to try hard enough, but you really have to keep your eyes open. We saw over 50 good size Russian Boars. This was no easy hunt, we had to walk about 3-4 miles up and down the sides of hills trying to surprise these hogs. They will tell you that they can get you a 30 yard shot, but I recommend being sighted in at 100 yards. My father shot a 300 lb. Russian Boar @ 75 yards. I shot a 200 lb. Russian Boar @ 50 yards. Overall, I would recommend this ranch, especially if you live in an area where this type of game is not available. There is a small lake where you can do some "catch and release" fishing, and there is also a lodge with a T.V., and where you can purchase meals.

Curtis Sidwell (owner) and his wife Trina are very nice people and provided comfortable accommodations during my hunt. This is a self-guided type deer hunt, before your hunt the owner shows you the different tracts of land (actually ranches) that you will be allowed to hunt and he provides information about each of the areas. Each tract of land varies in size, terrain, and type of cover, they are all great looking deer country. I was there and hunted the late season and after 4-days of hunting I only saw 2-does.Factors that may have affected how many deer I saw were the weather, the last week of the season, the crops (corn) not being picked, whatever the reason the deer were just not moving.I have been big game hunting for 35-years on guided and non-guided hunts in seven different states and this is the first hunt where I only saw 2-game animals.

Stand location was poor out in the open, long range shot's with a rifle 200+yrds. This outfitter needs to cater more to his client's than themselves. Out of 12 guys in camp only 1 guy got a shot at a buck,. It was a nice buck, but not many were sighted the whole week. There are quality bucks there, but you'll have to hunt the rut with a bow or go the first week of the gun season. I was there the 2nd week of the gun season.

Basically a semi-guided hunt. On the day before the season, the owner shows you around and gives you some hints on where he's seeing deer and then your on your own. Acommodations are some type of cabin or old farm house, all very comfortable and well maintained. The ranches vary in size from 200-300 acres to over 2000 acres, most of which have some type of agriculture or food plots on them. I have hunted with the outfitter two times and have shot one buck, not very big, about 120, but it was the last day. Last season hunted for a big one and didn't get one. However, did see one 160-170 class and 2 or 3 140 class in four days of hunting, but wasn't able to get a shot. We had 8 hunters in our group last time and shot 3 bucks, one small buck and two nice 8 points. However, guys with me missed 3 large bucks, one which the outfitter said was about a 180. Can't blame anyone for those three!! All together between 8 hunters seen about 30 Bucks in four days of hunting. Outfitter is very honest and a good guy to hunt with. The price is very reasonable and you have the potential to shoot a really tremendous deer for a lot less money than some other places.

Hunted 2 days for turkey and got a turkey each day. They scored 62 & 65 NWTF points. The guide did a great job not only calling the birds, but knowing the layout of the land so we can get into position. This was a great hunting experience. After the hunt each day, they have ponds to fish in and I caught over 50 bass and over 80 crappie over the 2 days. This is a great place to turkey hunt. They also have deer bow hunting and other game bird hunting.
