if u want to get a stag for the wall, this is the place. i went there in '08 and '09 and killed deer both years. my brother did also. last year i shot a 300lb 8 pt and this yr we both shot spikes that weighd 180lbs. his prices are very good compared to other places and i will go back next yr. its only about a hr from new orleans and u dont need a license.

MCKENNA OUTFITTERS WEBSITE IS VERY MISLEADING. I HUNTED FOR FOUR DAYS WITH 11 OTHER HUNTERS. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE PRIME RUT TIME. I SAW 7 DEER IN 4 DAYS BEING ON STAND AN AVERAGE OF 7-8 HOURS PER DAY. THE STANDS HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME LOCATIONS FOR YEARS AND DEER WHICH DO COME OUT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THEM AS THEY KNOW WHERE THEY ARE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS FOOD PLOTS WHICH ARE BEAUTIFUL BUT THERE ARE SO MANY DEER DO NOT HAVE TO MOVE. THERE ARE ALSO MANY FOOD PLOTS YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HUNT. YOU WILL HUNT THE SAME STANDS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN HUNTED BY SOMEONE ELSE THAT MORNING AS THAT HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST ONE TIME. DURNING THE TIME I WAS AT MCKENNA THERE WERE TWO DECENT BUCKS TAKEN. ONE OF WHICH WAS A SHOT AT OVER 300 YARDS ON A PIPELINE. YOUR HUNTS AT MCKENNA WILL ALMOST ALWAYS BE OVERLOOKING A GREENFIELD OR PIPELINE FROM WHICH YOU CAN SEE ALOT OF LAND BUT IF YOU ARE ON THE PIPELINE BE READY FOR SHOTS UP TO 300 YARDS. I NEVER RAISED MY GUN THE WHOLE 4 DAYS AS THE ONLY BUCKS I WAS ABLE TO SEE WERE ONE SPIKE AND ONE THREE POINT. I WAS TOLD WHEN BOOKING THAT THEY TOOK 70-80 BUCKS PER YEAR AND SOME OF THOSE WOULD SCORE ABOUT 160. THE TWO THAT WERE KILLED WHILE I WAS THERE SCORED LESS THAN 130 AND THE GUYS WORKING SAID THERE HAD ONLY BEEN 10-12 BUCKS TAKEN ALL YEAR. THE PEOPLE THERE ARE NICE FOLKS BUT I DONT THINK THEY REALLY CARE WHETHER YOU TAKE A DEER OR NOT THEY ARE IN IT FOR THE MONEY. AS FAR AS GUIDES GO THE ONLY ONE WHO SEEMED TO KNOW ANYTHING WAS THE OWNERS GRANDSON. HE ACTUALLY KNEW WHERE SOME DEER WERE. BY THE WAY THEY DO NO SCOUTING AND HAVE NO IDEA OF THE HERD SIZE. AS I SAID EARLIER SAME STANDS YEAR AFTER YEAR. IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO BLOW AND JUST WANT TO GET AWAY THE ACCOMADATIONS ARE NICE AND THE FOOD IS THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP. DONT GO HERE EXPECTING TO TAKE A DEER. I WAS TOLD 85% CHANCE IF YOU CAN SHOOT. IT IS MORE LIKE 85% CHANCE YOU COULD SEE A DEER.

My show airs locally here in Mississippi, and will begin airing nationally on The Sportsmans Channel in July of 07, so my recomendations do not come lightly. I have hunted in Texas,Fla.Ga. Ala. All the while filming for my show . These guys will bust their butt to make sure you have a good time. I took a very nice buck while hunting with them, and seen a ton of deer. I have hunted at over 20 different outfitters(many at their request) and I can say this I saw more bucks that does at Black Prairie outfitters. They are just getting started in the business, I say give em two years and they will rival ANY outfitter in the Southeast.A booked hunt with them is well worth the money!!!!

My son and I went on this hunt together Nov.25-27 and I could not have been pleased any more with Mr. Grissum and our hunt. My son Took the best Buck of his life, with a very large Doe, Missed a Cull Buck, and took a Med. size Hog. You are allowed to take a Buck, Cull Buck, Doe and a Hog for the same Price,The amount of Wildlife that was seen and put on Camera was unbeliveable, So be sure to take along the Video Camera. Close to 100 Turkey were seen and filmed.If you are looking to book a Hunt of a Lifetime then be sure to give the Folks at Lifetime Hunts a call You will not be disapointed, I know I wasn't. Would I return, Absolutely and am looking forward to next year already.

I went on this hunt Nov. 25, 26, and 27th, This was the best hunt I have ever been on. I seen over 90 Turkey, 12 Hog, and about 30 deer. I took a Great 10pt. I also killed a Doe and a Hog. I also missed a kull buck. You get to kill 1 trophy buck, 1 kull buck, 1 doe, and 1 hog on a three day hunt. If you would like to see the deer I took just e-mail me. I will go back every year.

SJ referred me to an outfitter and handled all the booking details. He made several Ph calls to make sure all was clear before the hunt. Also made a follow up contact to make sure the outfitter treated us well. We went on a semi guided hunt and killed some real nice hogs even though the weather was terrible.

This is a first class organization. It is family owned and operated. The McKennas work this place year-around to ensure a safe, superior hunt. I was impressed with every aspect of the ranch. Mark McKenna knows the place like the back of his hand and knows where the deer are running. All stands were safe and clean with excellent visibility. I saw 35 deer in one sitting. This is the place to go to in Mississippi. Thanks to all the McKennas and Perry Deerman. I'll be back.

When you go to Tara plan to hunt hard, because these guys really work their tails off to put you on deer. Top notch operation with top quality people. Have hunted there 3 times. Killed a 150 class 8 point in Dec. 2002.

It is a bowhunting only outfit so not everyone can expect to kill a deer. I have been there 3 times and had a good experience all three times although I have only killed a deer this past hunt. They have plenty of deer and plenty of quality deer. It's bowhunting and like bowhunting everywhere else in the country, it ain't always easy. A good hunt I recommend to any experienced bowhunter.
