Monday A.M.
The 8-point I saw this morning This morning I hunted the same spot as yesterday morning, but the deer activity was real slow, I imagine because it was extremely windy all morning. No one saw much this morning. I saw one young, fat 8-point at 9:15 a.m., when he walked past at about 10 yards and posed real nice for a few pictures. Monday P.M. My evening spot This evening I hunted the edge of a creekbottom in a thin strip of trees with several fresh rubs and scrapes. This spot was where one of the other hunters saw a very nice buck last evening. It was still very windy this afternoon and I was afraid I wasn't going to see anything, but with about 30 minutes of shooting light left, deer started appearing everywhere. The first deer I saw was a 4-point buck who moseyed past me headed somewhere. A few minutes later I saw a few does. Those were the only deer that were close enough for pictures. After that, the deer activity stepped up real quick, and they were mostly out in the field about 100 yards from me. In all, I saw at least two 4-points, a 6-point, and two different 8-points, one a borderline shooter. The biggest 8-point made a scrape on the edge of the field and then disappeared into the creekbottom. I also saw at least six Whitetail does, and several of them were being chased around by the bucks. The rutting activity definitely seems to be stepping up. The first 4-point I saw this evening Check back tomorrow for more action!
