Thursday A.M.
This morning we were hunting the South Saskatchewan River breaks again, but in a completely different area. Murray and Jim went one way and I went the other. While this country looked pretty similiar to that we've been hunting, there wasn't a whole lot of deer presence there right now, for some reason. I saw a group of 3 young mulie bucks and that was it on my side of the river. I did see a 30" monster buck on the other side of the river, on a place we can't hunt. Murray and Jim didn't see anything on their side either except a handful of does and fawns. They did see a cut wheat field in the distance, though, and 4 nice bucks in it, all shooters. After the bucks left, the fellows went to investigate the area and found 2 good trails that they set up ground blinds on for us this evening. That's where we'll be tonight. this doe was walking along the opposite shoreline Thursday P.M. This evening I sat a ground blind on a wheat field. The blind was made of sagebrush and blended right in. There was lots of waste grain laying around in the field, making it clear why deer had been visiting. I ended up seeing a few does and fawns at a distance, but the bucks seen this morning by Murray and Jim didn't show. We may try this spot again tomorrow evening. that clump of brush is my blind the view behind my blind view from inside Check back for tomorrow's update!
