Bearpaw Outfitters is located in the northeastern corner of Washington, next to Idaho and British Columbia. This area has the perfect mixture of forested hills and fertile farmlands to provide the necessary feed and cover for the best population of whitetail deer in the entire Northwest. Our hunting area has the largest deer herd and the largest deer harvest in the entire state. Bearpaw Outfitters is the exclusive outfitter on numerous prime ranches; we have access to nearly 10,000 acres of prime private whitetail habitat. Our area is also blessed with millions of acres of public access areas that are wide open to hunting. Both the public access and the private ranches can be very good hunting in the right areas at the right times. We hunt several of the public access areas and kill some of our best bucks on the public access areas, but as a rule, there are higher numbers of deer on the private ranches, and we usually spend the majority of our time hunting on private ranches. Northeast Washington has produced numerous B&C and P&Y heads in the past, and will continue to produce record heads in the future. Our area has experienced several consecutive mild winters, our whitetail population is growing, and during the last few years we have seen numerous really big bucks. Our whitetails have good genetics. Most mature bucks will have 4 to 6 points per side, a 14" to 22+" spread, and weigh 150-200 pounds. The older bucks get heavy horned and non-typical bucks are fairly common. Mature bucks will average 100 to 140 points and some of the better bucks will go 150's to 170's. One buck killed in our area a few years back grossed 208 B&C, had over a 26" spread, with 6 nearly perfect points on each side. That gives you an idea of the trophy potential here. I have personally seen bucks here that would go in the 170-190 class, most of which die of old age, or are eaten by cougar, most are never taken by hunters. More big bucks die of natural causes here, than get taken by hunters. We run a high success hunt, with usually 70%-100% shooting opportunity on the guided rifle or archery hunts, and usually about 25%-50% shooting opportunity on the unguided hunts. Best of all, most of our whitetail hunts don't require a lot of skill. We can design the hunt so it's not too physically demanding; almost anyone can enjoy the hunt and usually be successful at seeing deer. On the Guided 3-Day Economy Rifle Hunts we try to fill everyone's tag with a legal deer, hunters may take any buck with visible antlers. Juniors and Seniors get a discount, and have the option of taking a doe if desired. We get some quality bucks on the 3-Day Economy Rifle Hunts every year, but it's not really a trophy class hunt. Trophy rifle hunters should choose the 5-Day Trophy Rifle Hunts; you have a much better chance of taking a quality buck. Archers should plan 7 days in order to have a good chance of seeing quality bucks, the extra time is often needed for a successful archery hunt. The 3-Day, 5-Day, and 7-Day hunts are all outstanding values, for the meat hunter, or for the trophy hunter. Bear and Cougar (Mt. Lion) are also open during most of the rifle, archery, and black powder deer seasons, we urge everyone to carry tags in their pocket, and there is no extra charge if you get a bear or cougar. Many past archers and rifle hunters have had opportunities at bear and cougar during their deer hunts, and several bear and cougar have been taken. During most of the archery and muzzleloader deer hunts, elk is also open. We charge no extra if you take an elk on your archery or muzzleloader hunt. Where else do you have the options to take extra animals like these at no extra charge, email or call us today for more information or to reserve your hunt. Or, print out our convenient "Hunt Application", fill it out and mail it today. |

GUIDED RIFLE HUNTS - We include lodging and meals in our cabins & lodge, expert guiding on private land and certain public lands at times, field dressing, quartering, skinning, and trophy care of game you harvest, cold storage if needed, and all private land access fees are included in the listed hunt fees. During the Guided Rifle Hunts we often watch feeding areas and the game trails to feeding areas in the early morning and late evenings, using ground blinds or tree stands. During the day we often do a lot of drives, we post the hunters to watch for deer, then the guides go back around the brush patches and timber lots, line up and push the deer toward the waiting hunters. It's extremely successful and very exciting to see deer coming right toward you. At other times we may hunt from 4x4 trucks on old logging roads or we may do some spot & stalk hunting or some still-hunting.
UNGUIDED RIFLE HUNTS - You may choose the inexpensive public land hunts or you may choose to hunt private lands. Either way, you will enjoy the same meals and lodging as the guided hunters in our cabins and lodge, we'll provide a map and directions to get you to the hunting areas and we'll explain how to hunt the areas. All the public access areas are areas that we have hunted ourselves, and we know are good deer areas; we do guided hunts in many of these areas when the unguided hunters are not hunting them. The private land areas are some of the best around, we will describe them to you in detail and tell you how many hunters should be hunting on each property, so you can choose the area in advance that will best suit your hunting needs. We also include directions on trophy care, cold storage if needed, and all private land access fees are included in the listed hunt fees. These affordable unguided trips are very popular and the hunts fill up fast, so email us, or give us a call now to reserve your hunt. YOUTH AND SENIOR RIFLE HUNTS During the October Rifle Season all Youth 16 and under, and Seniors 65 and older may hunt either-sex whitetail. Non-Resident youths even get to hunt for the same license fees as resident youths. ARCHERY HUNTS - Early either-sex archery hunts or late either-sex archery hunts are available for guided or unguided hunters. The archery hunting here is extremely good, we are archers ourselves, we have guided archers, and we know how to get the job done right. During the archery seasons we hunt primarily from stands and blinds in timbered areas that have high deer numbers moving along game trails near the alfalfa fields. The early hunt can produce bucks in the velvet the first week of September, about half are rubbed clean and half are still in velvet, by September 10 most of the big bucks are all rubbed clean. Best of all, the early September archery hunt occurs before the rifle season opens, the deer are more relaxed and the weather is very comfortable. The late Nov-Dec archery hunt is after rifle season and during the rut when the bucks are more active chasing does and can also be extremely good hunting. Stand hunting is very effective because hardly anyone hunts that way in Washington. In fact, hardly anyone archery hunts here in Northeast Washington, you seldom see many other archers while hunting here. I recommend a 7-Day 4x1 semi-guided archery hunt with one guide for 4 hunters as an excellent choice. An archery hunter wants to be alone in the stand and not have a guide right with him. The guide will make sure you are hunting good locations and rotate where you hunt to increase your success, he will help track wounded game, get game out, and skin and quarter game taken. There's also potential to kill a bear or cougar while in the stand, and there are some elk and mule deer to hunt in our area too. You may hunt deer, elk, bear, and cougar for the same basic hunt fee. Remember, well located stands are awaiting your hunt, we keep most of our stands in place year-round, but it's a good idea to bring your own portable climbing stand so you can hunt a particular tree if needed, also bring your scent lock clothing for the hunt if you own it. So please email or call us today for more information or to arrange your next BOWHUNT. MUZZLELOADER We have an excellent either-sex muzzleloader hunt Oct 5-9, the week before rifle season opens, this is an extremely good hunt in an area with some real quality bucks that are still relaxed before the rifle hunt opens, there are very few hunters in the woods, the weather is comfortable, and it's a very enjoyable time to be in the woods. The elk season is also open for any bull at the same time. Hunt elk and deer, and even bear and cougar on this hunt for the same fee. This is an extremely good hunt that is overlooked by most hunters, we urge you to give this hunt a try, call or email us today for specifics or to get a hunt booked. A great chance to sneak in on a hunt for big unsuspecting whitetails. ALL HUNTS Include meals and lodging in our cabins and lodge. Just bring your sleeping bag for the bunk beds and your personal hunting gear.
