Cougar & Bobcat Hunts

Idaho & Utah Cougar Hunting
Idaho and Utah are two of the best cougar hunting states and our hunting areas here consistently produce quality cats. With over 20 years experience outfitting hunters and hundreds of cougar caught, Bearpaw Outfitters is one of the most successful outfitters in the west. Lion hunting is not just a winter sideline for us, it's serious business. Regardless of your age and physical condition, our goal is to send you home with a good lion and unforgettable memories of the hunt.

We usually camp at the hunt area in cozy heated camp trailers so we can spend the most time hunting with less road time to and from town. The hunt is conducted by searching the mountain roads primarily in 4x4 trucks with ATV's available if needed, while looking for fresh tracks to put the dogs on. Once fresh tracks are found the dogs are released and the hunt is on. Because the dogs can cover so much country following a lion, we'll stay with the vehicle until the dogs have the cat treed or bayed, usually a 1/4 to 1/2 mile hike, and we'll then move in on foot at a comfortable pace to you. Overall shooting opportunity usually runs close to 100%, and cats usually range from 80 to 170 lbs., with tom's averaging 130-160 lbs. We can get cougar licenses over the counter, so you don't need to draw a permit. You can add Bobcat, Elk, or Mule Deer to your Idaho Cougar Hunt, or Bobcat and cow elk can be added to your Utah Hunt.
