Mule Deer
Big mule deer in the southwest are getting harder to find every year. In Arizona, there's only a couple of areas that still produce big bucks. Each year, Arizona Wildlife Outfitters sends a recommendation list to all our clients on where to apply for big, trophy animals. If you would like to be on that list to find out where the big bucks are, give us a call, FAX or send us a request via e-mail. | |
| Photo #1: This photo is of young Blake Bender from Sacramento CA with his first ever mule deer. Little Blake took this buck at 125 yards with a White Muzzleloader while hunting with AWO owner Don Martin. Arizona offers some great juniors-only hunts and AWO specializes in assisting young hunters on their outdoor adventures! |

This ram was the second largest taken in the unit, and the fourth largest taken in Region III in 2004! Bryan looked at over 135 sheep including 35 rams before taking the ram we called "The Boss". |

Arizona offers some great hunting opportunities from January through April for javelina and turkey hunts. Both tags are issued by draw only, and require that sportsmen apply for them in late September-early October 2001. Spring 2002 javelina tags are easy to draw and very economical. Get a friend to come out with you and enjoy a fun hunt away from all the snow, cold and blustery weather. Success is 100% on shooting opportunities regardless of your weapon, be it bow, handgun, muzzleloader or rifle. Fly into Las Vegas, we're only 100 miles away.
Archery javelina hunts are open from January 1 through the 31st. Tags are just $68.50 plus the $113.50 license, which is valid when you apply for other big game tags later in the year. Arizona also offers H.A.M. (Handgun, Archery, Muzzleloader) javelina tags. Those hunts are open for seven days in mid-February. Then, Arizona offers a general javelina hunt during the third week of February. These hunts also last one week. Cost for a 2x1 4-day hunt is just $750 each. Cost for a 1x1 hunt is $1,000. For those that like to hear the thunder of gobblers sounding off in the Spring, in April of each year, the Arizona Game & Fish Department offers a limited number of tags for Merriam's gobblers. Tags are $55.50 each, plus the $113.50 for a non-resident 2002 hunting license. Even first time applicants stand a good chance to draw a tag. NOTE: If you buy a license before you apply for a Spring tag, you can use that license in 2002 to apply for javelina and turkey tags, plus use it to apply for your elk, deer, sheep, buffalo, antelope and deer tags later on in the year. Cost of Spring turkey hunts is just $750 each for a 2x1 four day hunt, or $1,000 for a four day, 1x1 hunt. Get a friend and apply for some hot action in the cool pines of northern Arizona. |

Special Services
Arizona Wildlife Outfitters provides our clients with a variety of services ranging from providing comprehensive hunt recommendations, to the purchasing of licenses for our non-resident hunters. We can also assist you in the application process for Arizona big game tags. These are free services, just something we do to help our friends. Arizona is on a bonus point system for deer, elk, antelope, desert bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep and buffalo. Remember, sportsmen can only get bonus points if they have purchased a hunting license before they apply for those species. It is my recommendation that sportsmen purchase a hunting license each year, so they can accrue bonus points if they are unsuccessful. We have hunters each year that do draw the first time they apply, so don't be discouraged. One thing is for sure: you can't draw unless you apply! Want more information? Write, call or send us e-mail and we'll get a packet of information out to you. We also offer an exciting hunting video, with lots of "over-the-shoulder-action" for just $5. This video includes footage of the desert bighorn sheep hunt that was featured on Tom Miranda's "Outdoor Adventure Magazine" on ESPN. Mike Pellegatti bags what was then the third largest desert bighorn sheep ever taken with a muzzleloader in the rugged Black Mountains. Hunters can start applying for big game tags in May, with the deadline the middle of June, so don't delay. Let us help you plan your 2001/2002 Arizona outdoor adventures! |
