About us

ABC Ranch Whitetail Deer Hunting ABC Ranch is located in the south central part of New York State. We raise Hereford cattle and own 2000 acres of land which is all posted. In 1996 we started our own Quality Deer Management Program. We fill all our Doe Permits with mature does, and harvest only 8 points or better bucks.

In 1999 Chip built a hunting camp and started taking hunters for the 2000 season. He started a second camp in 2002 and opened it for the 2004 season. We now have two camps, which have all the conveniences of home. Propane heat, a bunk room which sleeps six, kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower and Dish TV. Each camp has 250 acres which they have exclusive hunting rights to. The other 1500 acres is open for both to hunt.

We rent our camps from Saturday-Friday,however you are welcome to come Friday to scout, hang stands, grocery shop, etc. The camp will be ready to move into by 5 p.m. Friday, and at the end of the week, the following Friday, you must have your gear and things out of the camp by 11 a.m. This is necessary so we can get the camp ready for the next incoming group of hunters.

We're considered the southern zone of New York State, deer management unit 8T. Bow season opens October 1st and runs until gun season, which is the 3rd Saturday in November. There are 3 weeks of gun season, followed by muzzleloader. Shotgun season follows, opening the 3rd week in November and thinning for 3 weeks, followed by 8 days of muzzleloader season. Rifles are legal in Steuben county, however, on ABC Ranch we don't allow any Rifles. We allow Shotguns and Muzzleloaders only.

Bow season is $3,000.00/camp/week for up to 5 hunters. More than 5 hunters requires an additional $600.00/hunter. Opening week of shotgun season is $4,200.00/camp/week for up to 6 hunters. More than 6 hunters will be an additional $700.00/hunter. The second and third week of shotgun is $3,600.00/camp/week. More than 6 hunters will be an additional $600.00/hunter. Muzzleloader season is $3,000.00/camp/week for up to 5 hunters. More than 5 hunters is an additional $600.00/hunter. I require 50% down in order to book and the remaining 50% when you arrive to hunt. All deposits are non-refundable.

We've had alot of success with the deer management program. Most of our neighbors ate also practicing 8 points or better as well, after seeing how well it's worked for us.

Bear season is open throughout the entire deer hunting season. 2 Bear have been taken to date.

Steuben County is also known for some of the best turkey hunting in the State. The fall season coincides with Bow Season, and as an added bonus we invite our Bow hunters to bring their shotguns and do some turkey hunting. The spring season is May 1st - 31st, the limit is two bearded turkeys. Spring season is $100/hunter/day.
