About us
ABC Ranch is located in the south central part of New York State. We raise Hereford cattle and own 2000 acres of land which is all posted. In 1996 we started our own Quality Deer Management Program. We fill all our Doe Permits with mature does, and harvest only 8 points or better bucks.
In 1999 we built a hunting camp and started taking hunters for the 2000 season. We started a second camp in 2002 and opened it for the 2004 season. We now have two camps, which have all the conveniences of home. Propane heat, a bunk room which sleeps six, kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower and Dish TV. Each camp has 250 acres which they have exclusive hunting rights to. The other 1500 acres is open for both to hunt.
We rent our camps from Saturday-Friday,however you are welcome to come Friday to scout, hang stands, grocery shop, etc. The camp will be ready to move into by 5 p.m. Friday, and at the end of the week, the following Friday, you must have your gear and things out of the camp by 11 a.m. This is necessary so we can get the camp ready for the next incoming group of hunters.
The 2008 bow season opens October 18th and closes November 14th. This is followed by shotgun season November 15th - December 5th. Muzzleloader is December 8th - December 16th. They opened rifle season in Steuben County for the 2007 season on a one-year trial basis; however, regardless of the outcome, we allow shotgun and muzzleloader only on the ABC Ranch, no rifles!
Bow season this year (2008) is a full week shorter than the 2007 season, therefore, I expect it to fill fast. The price for bow season is $600/hunter with a $3,000 minimum/camp or up to five hunters. More than five hunters is an additional $600/hunter.
Shotgun and Muzzleloader season is $600/hunter with a $3,600/camp minimum. More than six hunters is an additional $600/hunter. I require 50% down in order to book and the remaining 50% when you come. Deposit is non-refundable.
The deer management has worked well for us and several of our neighbors are doing the same thing now. Over the last eight years we have averaged 19 eight-point bucks or better per season. We have some permanent tree stands, however, we encourage you to bring along portable stands.
Steuben County is also known for some of the best turkey hunting in the State. The fall season coincides with Bow Season, and as an added bonus we invite our Bow hunters to bring their shotguns and do some turkey hunting. The spring season is May 1st - 31st, the limit is two bearded turkeys. Spring season is $100/hunter/day.
If you enjoy hunting, stalking, and seeing lots of game in prime Whitetail Country and still have all the comforts of home, give me a call days at 607-765-0043, evenings 607-324-0896. I will take you around the land you'll be hunting, show you the boundaries, show you the stands we have built and make sure that you're familiar with the land. References are available on request.
